We have a trip planned for next winter and are doing some very preliminary planning. I've booked the "Gold" package for my two DDs (19, 16), DH, and myself. It will be our first visit to WDW. I've been thinking we'd like to take advantage of the tours available with our package...the Backstage Safari and Wild by Design (at AK) sound interesting as well as the "Keys to the Kingdom"....has anyone had experiences with these tours or any of the Epcot tours that were really fun and that we shouldn't miss?

We loved the Keys to the Kingdom tour that we took last January. Our tour guide was Rae, and she was super-knowledgeable and very funny. My favorite aspect of the tour was that she let us into how much planning really went into Disney. How important it was to Walt that people felt like the were in a whole other world. We learned where speakers were hidden, why Main Street is red, and why there are trash cans every 27 feet, etc. The food at Columbia Harbour House was yummy, and you can't beat getting the desirable KTTK tour pin. I actually plan on taking this tour again next May when I go with my sister!!

Oh, and for detailed reports of all the tours check out allearsnet.com

We will be doing 5 tours on our upcoming gold plan trip. We have also done Keys to the Kingdom in the past and loved it. The insight you get on the tours gives you a whole new appreciation for Disney. We will be doing a trip report when we get back that should provide you with what it was like to do marathon tours.

We will be doing Backstage Safari, Wild by Design, Magic of Disney Steam Trains, Gardens of the World, and Hidden Treasures of the World Showcase. BTW, the Backstage Magic tour is not an option on the gold plan.

Looking into the tours very early on is advisable. They only do certain tours on certain days of the week. When you are trying to fit several in, you have to plan each day around the tour you are doing. I believe you can get the days that tours are currently offered at http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/tours.htm

Please let us know if you have any questions about gold plan trip planning - it's been fun, but very involved.
