Hi

I am interested in booking the Marceline to Magic Kingdom tour. It states minimum age is 12, however ds is 11 1/2. Sounds silly but will they check his age if I book the tour? Aside from that, has anyone done that tour and can you recommend another tour an 11 year old can take?

Thanks!

You will be fine most children don't have ID's at that age and i don'T they will make you prove his age.

While I hesitate to contradict a moderator, our experience at WDW is that they adhere to their restrictions quite strictly. I'm surprised the PP would suggest that you disregard the age limit.

There is another train tour offered that has a younger age limit called the Magic Behind Our Steam Trains tour. Here's a link: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/events-tours/magic-kingdom/magic-behind-steam-trains-tour/

Under the Know Before You Go section it clearly states the age limit and that it requires children to have photo ID.

Fully agree.

They are exacting on ages for tours. 11 1/2 will be too young for a tour with 12 as minimum age. And the train tour would be an excellent alternative. I have taken both, and the train tour is great. If you do a tour, don't forget the discounts...AP, DVC, and Disney Visa, all 15%.

The age limit determined by the insurance company and it is absolutely set in stone. There is no wiggle room. They do require proof of age.

While I don't disagree 12 is the age limit and it is to be follows just what photo ID does a 12 year old have?

In my area it would be a school id but my daughter also had a passport at this age... I'm not really sure what disney considers an id for a child.

At that age my children wouldn't have had ID, but their ages would have been in the Disney computer system from previous reservations, etc.

MDE shows my daughter's age. I guess you could lie when you create the account. I personally don't think its worth the risk of being asked to leave if they find out.

I thought of that but I don't know how common photo IDs are for schools. They sure aren't done here.
Passports aren't common here either, being in the middle of the country. I'm sure some kids have traveled but they'd not be the norm. It's not like we can run over to Mexico or Canada with ease.

No, I wasn't suggesting anyone lie at all. I only asked what photo ID a child had as the PP said that Disney required one for a child.
I fully intend to take these tours with DGD once she's old enough but we will not have a photo ID and I'm not going to get a passport just to do a Disney tour.

Guess I better update my DS's ages in MDE lol! No school ID's until high school and I'll want to do the Marceline tour when youngest DS is 12. Right now they are 10 and 13 but in MDE they're still 7 and 10.

I thought MDE had birthdates? (Which of course would automatically update ages) I know on my profile that's what is entered.

It doesn't always work right. You are shocked to learn MDE is glitchy, I'm certain. ;)
It kept DGD as 6 well past her 7th birthday.
I had to call them and have it corrected (the only reason I bothered was to get overlapping FP times and until she was 7 in their system they wouldn't allow her to hold her own FP time)

Why not call Disney tours and ask them yourself? That will give you the right answer.

I believe they would ask the child how old he is. If you are comfortable telling your child it is okay to lie about your age to get something you are not old enough for, then that's on you.

You can get a photo ID for a child at the Department of Motor Vehicles.
So all states do this? Never heard of it here but also never had a need to check in to it before. Will I have to do this in order to take the tour at Disney?

I honestly can't remember if it asked for birthdates when I set it up, but if it did it definitely isn't automatically updating their ages. If I can't manually change their ages (something I've never tried) I'll just ask them to change them next time I call.
