I was looking on TouringPlans and it says there that Thrs June 16 is a 1.9 at DL on the crowd calendar and Fri the 17 is a 3.8....is this true? Could both parks really not be that busy??? It also says that CA is 6.5 for both those days. How bad is that?

Thank you for replies!

I am going to say that Touring Plans has not adjusted AT ALL for the massive interest that Star Tours and Little Mermaid is going to bring to the Resort. On June 3rd (opening day for these attractions) they have it listed as 5 out of 10. Um, I think it might be just a little busier than that! :rotfl:

Honestly, I don't really understand their crowd levels. I was there in February on supposedly a 10 out of 10 day and it was really pleasant. A 10 out of 10 to me should be like those days when they don't allow any new ticket sales.

The good news about your dates is that the SoCal Select folks will be blocked, so that is a big chunk of locals who will not be competing with you to ride the new stuff. I think that will take some pressure off of the newer rides that the SoCal people will really be lining up for.

I think TP is only about half right, so feel free to plan by doubling or halving their numbers.

They have a lot of lag in updating their information to base the numbers off of. I'd guess those numbers are off last year when WoC was opening.

Also I saw someone post a while back that that is when the LA unified school district is just out of school. I'd bet some parents will take a day off work to take thier kids on new attractions.

Touringplans seems to lack sufficient data to even be close to accurate on any given day for DL. However, they are very usefull for WDW.

Their crowd history shows California Adventure for July 4th 2009 was an 9. I was there that day and can tell you at most I'd put it at a 2. Lines were mostly walk on all day and night except for Toy Story and Soar'n which hit 15 minutes midday. TP also shows 8-9 for July 5th-7th that same year. No way was it that crowded. 6-7 at DL, 4-5 at DCA.

I second all of this. I was at DLR last July and saw some of the lowest summer crowds I have ever seen. But TP lists those days as "10". :confused3

Touringplans is just getting started with their data at DL and because of that they are more likely to get it wrong. Their WDW touring plans and Best Days calendar have years and years of data to back them up so they are usually more accurate.

We just got back from 2 days in the park and touring planes said Thursday was a 1 and Friday a 4 or 6 (I can't remember. ) but to me it was a 5+

20+ min wait for most rides is not a slow day. Or that's how I feel. I was a little disappointed by touring plans numbers :sad2:

But you live and learn. We had great time anyways.

We were also there last Wed, Thur (both listed as 1/10) and Friday (4/10) and I agree that touring plans numbers were WAY off. We have used them several times for WDW and they were pretty accurate. They just don't have enough data for DL. On Wednesday morning the line for Pirates was out of the queue and going down the sidewalk. If that is what a 1/10 looks like, I don't ever want to see 10/10! On Friday night, every big ride in both parks had wait times of at least 50 minutes.

I did not find Touring Plans to be accurate AT ALL. They ranked May 8th as a 6 out of 10. We were practically the only people there for most of the day...we literally walked on to (and rode several times) Peter Pan's Flight, King Arthur's Carrousel, Dumbo, Pinocchio's Daring Adventures, Matterhorn, Winnie the Pooh, Pirates, The Haunted Mansion, Tarzan's Treehouse & saw a show....all before noon!

Mon.-Wed. was a .3 out of 10 and the crowds were a bit heavy, but not unbearable. I would be willing to give it a try in a year or two when they have more data. :)
