Touring Plans?

I guess for a bit of an introduction, I'm a 27 year old guy from the U.S. living and working just outside London for the next 3 years. I've been a big WDW fan since I was younger and have been a few times now, always being in charge of the "plan of attack" doing research through books and the net to come up with the best schedule for the family to get everything they want done. Probably like most people on these boards, I'm constantly urging them to follow the plan and they always thank me in the end. :)

I'm meeting a few friends in Paris in September and will be doing a solo day on Friday, September 7th before they arrive. I've booked a park-hopper pass mainly because I found it so cheap, so a proper touring plan will be important to be able to hit all the big rides in each of the parks. I'm more interested in all the big "thrill rides" and will sacrifice parades and shows in order to his as many as possible.

Another reason for the need for a plan of attack is that the Park is only open until 7:00pm and the Studios only until 6:00pm.

Can anyone point me in the right direction as far as where to find good plan information? Any advice on doing a solo trip?

Thanks in advance!

I did not have any luck finding a touring plan for DLP, but here is a suggestion. This is based on my observations of comparable wait times during a recent 3 day visit, and on extensive use of touring plans at WDW.

I think there are 5 rides you want to get.

Be at MGM before it opens

Do Crushin' Coaster first. Ride again if you want to. (There is no fastpass and it by far had the longest line)
Rockin' Roller Coaster next. Maybe get a fastpass if the time is close enough that you can ride it standing in line, then ride with the fastpass afterward.

Go to Disneyland.

Get a fastpass for Big Thunder Mtn.
Go ride Indiana Jones.
Depending on your return time to Big Thunder, ride again or go ride Pirates.
Ride Big Thunder Mtn.
Get a fastpass for Space Mtn.
Stand in line for it if you want to ride twice or go eat or ride something else (Star Tours or Buzz are close).

I really have no idea how busy it will be that day, but hopefully you will have plenty of time after this to see other stuff.

Anyone else with more experience can feel free to improve on this.

Well, I agree with Eebadeeba's suggested plan and I don't think it'll be 'THAT' busy considering it's Friday and the school holidays will be over.

Have a great time!

Ema - only 3 sleeps to go :dance3:

I second being outside the Studios before opening and legging it straight away to Crush's Coaster ~ because the ride is so new the queues are very long unless you can get to it first thing.

Hope you have a magical time. :wizard:

Please critique my touring plan for this Friday. All suggestions welcome and appreciated. I'm not quite sure using all of these FP's is feasible. Once these are ticked off the list, I'm open for suggestions of other rides to go on while in Disneyland Park at the end of the day.

Thanks in advance!

Arrive 9:00-9:30 for rope drop 10:00am at Studios.

Walt Disney Studios:

2b. Ride standby and leave if not enough time for 2 rides

I've never got into touring plans for DLP so will not comment on the detail.
Observation about first day is that unless it has changed significantly you will not manage to get a second ride on Crush without at least a 1 hour wait time.
RnR by comparison never had more than a 10 minute wait as so FP was even required :)

BTW there is a getting to know you thread where you can introduce yourself. There is a link from the when are you going sticky :)

Meant to add hi CabbieMcJones and welcome to DLP DIS board :wave2:
We are a friendly bunch here so please join in on any other thread or if you have a number of questions then just start a new thread for each :goodvibes

If you have not had a look yet, DLP posting rules are here, DIS posting guidelines can be found here and details regarding help on signatures here

::yes:: Once you've done Crush, I would head over to the Disneyland Park and do the rides there. You can go back to RnR later in the day and, as long as you avoid the end of the Moteurs Action show, there won't be a really long queue.

Once in the Disneyland Park, ride Thunder Mountain before Indiana Jones and then get a FP for later too - it's a great ride. Then get your Peter Pan FP when you've done Pirates.

Just a couple of notes.

I am not sure how much the crowds drop off, but based on last week, here are some observations.

When we have been there Peter Pan FPs run out in the afternoon, so you may not be able to get one by the time it is scheduled in your plan, and the standby line has been around 60 min. If this is a must do, then you might plan on getting a FP earlier in the day.

Also, Space Mtn. could have a shorter line than Buzz, so check before assuming you should FP Space Mtn. instead of Buzz.

I am thinking you will probably not be able to get all the FPs in your plan since the wait times on some of them may be several hours long.

If you don't care to see the parade, then time to ride a bigger ride without a fastpass during this time.

You might also be interested in some things that aren't at WDW instead of Peter Pan. Pinocchio is ok and I think the tea party maze is fun too (and should have a short line). Also if you like Tom Sawyer's island, you might like all the caves and the bridge on Adventure Isle (in between Indiana Jones and Pirates). The Phantom Mansion is great if you like Haunted Mansion.

Have a great trip.

In September most rides are near enough walk-on. Apart from Crush, Cars, Peter Pan, Thunder Mountain and Buzz the most you should wait is 10mins. For the attractions I've just named expect to wait between 30mins and an hour. If you plan your FP's well there is no reason you can't do many more attraction than you've listed. I'd recommend Armagedon and the Tram Tour. You might even get to do Cinemagic which is un-missable in my opinion!

Remember, as soon as your FP slot starts you are able to pick up another. So go and get another before you go on the ride! This should get you an extra ride on one of the main attractions!

I would also make sure you visit the castle, a quick 5mins looking around the balcony and the dragon are well worth it as they are unique to Paris. The dragon is particularly good!

Thanks for your post. I feel pretty confident after reading that about the queues. At this point I'm going to be at the Studios first thing for Crush and RNR and then hightailling it to Disneyland Park for probably the rest of the day, but hopefully returning for some of the other things that WDW doesn't have.

Cheers everyone. I'll report back with the results!
