Touring Plans Room Request and Online Check-In

If you've submitted a room request via Touring Plans, is it recommended to not do online check-in? Would the online check-in somehow override the room request?

Also, if I don't do online check-in, do I have to go to the front desk at all, or will I still get a "your room is ready notification," at which point I go straight to the room?

I'm landing at 5:30 AM, and heading straight to the Skyliner station after dropping my bags, so I'm guessing my room won't be ready either. But I'm curious for future trips.

Do online check-in if you'd like, just don't do a room request with online check-in.

For the record, my room was never texted to me even with doing online check-in for any of our trip thus far. :) We just went to desk and it always worked out.

On-line check-in is unrelated to having a 3rd party make a room request. As mentioned above just do NOT add a room request when doing check-in. Disney lets you 'check-in' weeks before arrival so apparently they define it differently then other places we have stayed. You MIGHT get a text your room is ready which eliminates the need to see the front desk. If not, the front desk can help let you know when your assigned room is ready. I have seen various other threads where people either did/did not ever get a 'room ready' text, so I don't think there is any way to know how yours might work out.

If you complete online check in you may or may not get your room ready text. Personally, pre-Covid it was hit or miss. Post-Covid it's been 100% that I've gotten the text.

If you do not complete online check in you will not get the text, period.

Completing online check in has zilch to do with the touring plans room request. Unless you request 2 different things, which I can't imagine anyone would do since that wouldn't make any sense.

I do online checkin but leave requests blank. I use Touring Plans and also DVC to submit my requests. I give them 4 to 6 room numbers and usually get one of them or close.

I sent a TP request for a room in the 50's section. On the online check in, I sent request 1 as 50's and 2 as 70's. Would that be a conflict? I really want high up as a friend went recently and she was on the bottom floor. People congregated outside her room at all hours smoking, cursing, and loudly talking. I do not want this.

Both have 50’s as first choice so doesn’t appear as a conflict to me

I typically do either TP *OR* the boxes with online check-in.

The problem with doing both is that as I understand it, what you put on the online check-in selections will override any other request - and in your case that only lists buildings. There is no way they will know what floor you want once the info from your TP email is overridden.

If I edit my request now for my March 25th check in, is it too late or has the TP request already been overridden?
I just checked my app and I was able to change the check in to "none", but was not able to do so on the computer. I may be too late with the TP request, though as they sent it in a while back, or does the resort wait until a few days before check in to look at the requests?

If you do a TP request and complete online check-in (without filling in the boxes) does it matter what order you do it (TP then Online Check In or vice-versa)?

I did the TP request then called. I haven’t done online check in yet. I’ve still got 3 weeks. I’m going to do a follow up call tomorrow then I’ll check in.
