Okay, guys, it's time to compare notes on the best one-day touring plans for USF now that Revenge of the Mummy is sucking up huge lines.

Is it Mummy first with Express Pass for Shrek or Shrek first with Express Pass for Mummy?

Or has some clever person devised a new "best" strategy?

I would say if you got there as soon as the park opens do shrek first and then do mummy (there would only be a short line for both as soon as the park opens)

If you come later I would go to both and see which line is longest, the signs at the very front of the park arent very accurate!

Has anyone been able to confirm the no express for Shrek rumor?

I would agree with the Shrek 1st and then the Mummy. Or get Mummy express passes, then Shrek.

Agree, it is still Shrek first, then Mummy.
Why? The wait for Shrek builds to 75 minutes by 10am. The theater doesn't hold that many people, and the total time to get everyone seated, watch the movie, and then get everyone out is at least 20 minutes.
If you arrived when the park opened, you could probably run to the Mummy and get express passes, and still make it into the first show of Shrek. A good idea would be to have someone run down there, get the express passes for the Mummy, and run back.
At least waiting in line for the Mummy is alright, because the line moves, and you see neat stuff in the queue, which is air conditioned.
But waiting for Shrek is boring, outside in the heat, plus you're stuck there for 20 minutes before moving again.

It is confirmed.

There is no express for Shrek. The new express pass booklets do not include Shrek and the express pass machines are covered. There is also no express line. The hotel FOTL line has been moved to the other side of the building. The only rumor from some of the employees there is that it will not be reinstated. It was supposed to be just for a trial this summer but now they are being told that it is permenant.
FOTL for onsite Hotel guests is still there though. Shrek really should have never been an express pass attraction to start with.

I would say Shrek first. I seriously doubt that ROTM express passes will be completley out by the time Shrek's first show is over. To be safe, you could have everyone in your party get inline for Shrek while one person runs over to get express passes for ROTM.

Kelly,
Now that they are selling your book, do they tell you inside secrets like how many people can go through Shrek in an hour? I thought they could do 2000?

Hah! Don't I wish.

Actually, the "inside secrets" people and the stores are two entirely different departments. The stores sell the book because they figure they can make some $$$. They order the book from a distributor so I have nothing at all to do with that.

The folks at Universal are terrific, very friendly and very helpful. But secrets are secrets and I've long since learned not to even ask for anything that's not public knowledge.

But you can sorta figure it out. The theater seats 300, the movie is 15 minutes long. If my high school math is still up to snuff, that suggests a throughput of 1,200 per hour. Maybe someone else here knows more.

It's slightly higher than 1200 per hour. I forget the exact number, though.

Best strategy: Get on Mummy whenever it's working. That won't last long. It's down more than it's up.
