I love touringplans and have had a sub for a long time. However, I am very confused about the predictions during my upcoming trip which happens to occur during Food & Wine. I don't want to mention the actual dates but for Epcot on a Sat and Sun it is the rec park and the per park crowd levels are listed below a 1.

My question is can this possibly be correct ? I typically avoid Epcot on weekends during F & W but I also typically go by touringplans and have great success ? I am totally confused :confused3:confused3

I've asked about this too....and what I've heard is that the Crowd Levels are based on the wait times for the Major Rides/Attractions.
Since F&W particpants do not typically go on the rides (they are there to eat, drink and be merry!), the wait times are not adversely affected by the masses of people in the World Showcase.

I saw this too. They even suggest EP has the good park on a Saturday (final weekend) of the F&W.

I was told to avoid the F&W on the weekends because of the crowds. So, that's what I'm going to do.

I can understand that they would be at the events vs the rides but still, I don't want to be with wall to wall people.

I don't know much about these crowd calculation sites and I don't pay attention to them. However, if they do calculate crowds based upon wait times for attractions then it will not take into account the surge of guests in the World Showcase for the festival. If you're going to do rides in Future World you likely won't encounter the crowds very much. They will be in the World Showcase standing in line for food and drinks. The better the weather, the higher the crowds will be, and there's no way to predict the weather long-term. If you were there on Saturday, October 17, 2009, when the temperature actually dropped below 75 with sunshine, then you know exactly how crowded the World Showcase can get on a weekend.

Recommended park is not just based on crowd level there are many factors included including special events, park hours, etc. Check out the per park crowd levels to get a better breakdown of what Epcot will be like on those days. Also as PP said the general crowd calendar # is based on wait times (which will be in FW), the per park crowd calendar figures are different and include many factors.

Pirate Girl,
You've mentioned an important factor that I and many people often overlook when looking at TouringPlans park recs. Remember that recommended parks are not just based on crowds, but on special events that may be going on at the parks. So, for example, if F&W (or some event happening during the event) is considered a "not to be missed event" then TouringPlans could be listing Ep as a recommended park.
