touring monorail resorts

The official answer to both questions is at the TTC drop off zone. Stay tuned for lots and lots of other options...

An interesting thing to me is that the plans in that article show the name of Floridian Way as "World Drive Phase 3," making me wonder what other changes they have in the long-range plans and how soon they expect to implement them.

When I was there recently, there was construction near the Car Care Center, which having had to get to car rental location there years ago, I recall the route & intersections being convoluted and potentially dangerous.

Apparently the construction is now complete on the southbound side:

and apparently said construction was part of "World Drive North Phase II":

I guess Phase III will continue the improvements needed for a proper, two-way Floridian Way moving forward. The intersection of Floridian Way and Seven Seas Drive right now prioritizes Seven Seas Drive traffic, with only a stop sign for that vestigial end of Floridian Way between Seven Seas Drive and Bear Island Rd. With the new northbound Floridian Way under construction, (it's in the pictures in the first article above), they'll need more than a stop sign for people heading "north" on Floridian Way once this new road from World Drive connects.

Turning left out of Poly right now towards World Dr isn't even a lighted intersection, same with the Shades of Green intersection only 100ft away. I imagine that's another change coming.

They already built that divided road connecter between GF and Reams Rd, so to me it makes sense to connect that through, and alleviate some of the World Dr traffic that can make bus trips to MK take forever.

Thanks for the links and details. We usually have a car when we visit, and we have truly appreciated the changes they’ve made in recent years to improve traffic flow and safety.

That's is what the permit image I posted yesterday in post #38 indicates.

It show a 4 lane divide road marked as World Drive Phase 3. It runs past the Polynesian and the new DVC building and the permit ends at the GF DVC parking lot where the road appears to split into a Y.

2 questions...

1. If we are staying off site and don't have a car but want to check out all the holiday decorations on say Saturday, where is the best place for the Uber driver to drop us off at?

2. If we have a MK park reservation, where is the best place for the Uber driver to drop us off at (and pick us up at)? The park closes at 11pm that night.

Thanks!
1. It depends on which resorts you're going to visit really! Keep in mind that internal Disney buses were never really made for resort hopping.

One option is being dropped off at Disney Springs, as every resort has a bus that goes there.

We've had no problem having an Uber driver drop us off at Contemporary, but as people in this thread have mentioned, it depends entirely on how crowded the resort is and whether the security guard on duty is in a good mood.

2. I (personally) would take a boat to Wilderness Lodge and get picked up there. In my experience the boats out of MK have been the least crowded way to get out of the parks at the end of the night (people rush to monorail and buses). But you could also take the boat to Poly and either try to get picked up there or walk to the TTC from there, as it's not that far. Other people may have more recent experience leaving the park late at night though--we haven't closed out MK in a few years.

A good, reliable location for rideshare to drop off to see the monorail resort decorations is at the MK Guest Drop Off, which is directly adjacent to the TTC monorail station. It's the same lot where offsite shuttle buses, Uber/Lyft rideshares, and individual drivers can drop off & pick up MK guests.

When driving toward the MK, stay left and fork LEFT over the bridge toward "MK Resorts" and "Guest Drop-Off" instead of passing through the MK Parking gates. After the bridge, turn LEFT at a traffic light with a sign for Guest Drop-Off and then turn RIGHT into the bus lot. You'll be able to walk through security and onto the Resort Monorail to loop around to see Poly, GF, and CR. If you're not going to visit WL after your MK evening, be sure to get off the monorail at MK on your holiday tour and take the boat to WL (and back), as you'll enjoy the themed decorations there as well.

For a late night return from MK, this (MK Guest Drop Off) is the same location that rideshare will normally use to pick you up. The ferry is pretty efficient at handling the large crowds after closing at MK, IMO. Late in the evening, it can feel a bit quiet and empty at MK Guest Drop Off, since it's out behind the gift shop, security, and rest room buildings. I've felt safe with my family there but if that would be uncomfortable for you, then I'd second the idea of taking a boat to Wilderness Lodge to request pick-up.

I've never heard of a rideshare driver having a problem picking up a guest from any resort late in the evening. I'm not sure that I would take the Fort Wilderness Campground boat as that lets you off at the lake end of the campground, not at the front entrance. So my choice would be either ferry to MK Guest Drop Off or WL boat. Have fun!

Just to give an update incase it helps anybody. For the return, we got picked up from WL around 11:45pm. I probably wouldn’t recommend that option as I think all the drivers were over at the ttc and did t want to leave that hot spot. Also, everything at WL was closed at that time.

After about 5 mins a driver accepted our pickup and we got back around 12:20 to UO.
