Are you sure? AK hasn't been recommended (green) on any Monday in August or September.

TGM suggested the following:

Sunday: Epcot
Monday: AK
Tues: MK
Thurs: DHS

First, I must preface this that compared to this time last year, I found the parks to be much more crowded. After comparing notes with other DISers, I found out that overall, the parks weren't more crowded, it was just the days I was going... (btw, I know many of you summer goers are going to laugh at my complaint of the wait times, but compared to last year, I find these wait times for the time of year to be long.)

My experience:

Sunday: Epcot- Wait times exceeded 70 min for Soarin, 30 min for tt, and the other rides were less than 15-20 min.

Monday: AK- Wait times for EE & KS were continuously at around 45 min.

Tues: MK- doable but wait times were longer than expected- 20 min for buzz, 20 for btmrr & 30 min for splash mtn.

Thurs- DHS- crazy crowded- 70 min tsm, 60 min rnr, 45 min for tot.

Thank goodness for single rider lines and fastpass

Also, I'd like to add that I've never heard a complaint about touring plans. However, recently I've heard more and more complaints about tgm.

Mike doesn't have any of those days listed as best days. In fact, none of them were recommended for the days you chose to go to a particular park. Maybe you copied the dates wrong?

OMG! I just went back to TGM and that's exactly what happened! I screwed up all of the dates! I'm going back to delete my pp about not recommending them since I'm the one that screwed up!

It's good of you to change your post!! We all make mistakes. I booked flights for the day before we were supposed to leave-that mistake cost me $500!

I'm just disappointed in how some of TGM's information is not current. Today I received an e-mail to make my ADR's at the 180 day mark (tomorrow). Even Mike should know that we can't make ADR's right now because of the change. I'm a little confused now as to what I am paying for.

As previous posters have said, Unofficial Guide is great because you can start with their touring plans and customize them yourself, and they print nicely with a map, weather forecast, and other park info. It's also free if you (or your library) have the current book.

I like touringplans. They work very well. Their recommended parks are spot on. I like being able to look at the plan and see what Im going to next. It is my understanding that TGM does not give great plans, but teaches you to make plans for yourself. I like to be able to just take the one thats already there. There are many plans for different interests or situations. I am also interested in trying Ridemax.

My experience with each of the following has been good.

www.touringplans.com: Least expensive, but no real flexiblity for my family

www.tourguidemike.com: Moderate price, requires the user to do a lot of the work in the planning process. Very good explainations.

www.custommouseplans.com: More expensive, but does all the work for you. They even made my dining reservations for me! Great plans that worked from my family.

The people at TGM have always been way more friendly and less likely to argue. I think that a previous poster has it right that, when you have a site as huge as DIS you're going to get so many different personalities. At some point,without meaning to, someone is bound to hurt someone's feelings.

But to the original question, I prefer TGM because I have used him and he really works. But TP is good too. I just need a bit more information as to why they choose to do something the way that they do.
