Tour Groups from Brazil Watch....

On Star Tours, about 10 of these teenage boys entered, went to different rows than they'd been in the queue for, and went only half way down. Then when people motioned them to move (didn't just say "Move", but motioned) they said "No English" and laughed. Of course, when the operator said he wouldn't start the ride until they moved, they suddenly did speak English.

When people disregard instructions like these and sit half way down a row, I just push past them. Things is, I'm a plus-size person and when I want to I can inflect a lot of damage to feet, toes, etc. In a case such as this, I will take my sweet time getting past, and not sucking in my ginormous butt (which will be right in their faces).

As for the language barrier, well that cuts both ways. If you don't speak to me in English or French, I have no problem ignoring you if your behavior warrants it.

:rotfl: OMG! I needed a good laugh...thank you.

Oh Good Lord!!! If that whole scenario isn't hilarious I don't know what is!!! Thanks so much for the hoot:rotfl2:

:rotfl: :rotfl: I am with you!!!!

No bgut really the groups are obnoxious. We had to deal with a ton of them last Jan. They were all staying at the ASMU and they were in the same building as us. Needless to say we did not sleep well:confused3

I'm Pooh size and my DH is 6'4- we will have to try this out next time they try to cut in line or not move! Yeh for us Pooh sized girls, who know how to use it!!:rotfl:

We saw two while at HS on Friday the 13th. Both were coming out of the first Fantasmic show. Both had guides and flags and were about 15-25 kids in each group. They tried to out chant each other all the way from the Fantasmic exit to the park exit. I am glad we decided to go to the second show that night. Other than that one episode, I did not see any others.

We will be there July 24. Will the tour groups still be around in late July? I know it's silly but this kind of behavior can ruin my day  because I'm not the kind of person who can tolerate any kind of rude behavior.

:thumbsup2 Same here. As I get older, my patience for ignorance is getting shorter and shorter.

I still laugh at a post I saw last year about some Brazilians soaking their feet in the fountains at the parks. I don't think they'd do that at home. Why do it at WDW? Show some respect and common courtesy folks. :headache:

I have read and heard from people who are familiar with Brazilian culture that most of these tour groups are made up of 15-17 year old girls of the upper class. Supposedly, it is a right of passage for the upper class in Brazil to send their teen daughters (and some sons) on a "coming out" trip to the US or Europe. Coming from the upper class in Brazil (where there is not a significant middle class), they are raised from a young age with a attitude of entitlement and believe that service personnel are beneath them in class and not worthy of respect. I believe this fosters a sense of narcissism and entitlement in them that leads to their boorish behavior.

We have that here in the states. My brother went overseas when he graduated HS on a 3-week Church-led tour. Trust me when I say that these kids were supervised to the hilt. The Brazilian tour leaders are responsible for their little Paris Hilton Mini-Me's and they should be made to force these upper classless low lifes to behave themselves. Otherwise they deserve those "ginormous butts" in their faces. I'd still LOVE to see that :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

While I agree that Disney is responsible for the behavior of these groups by allowing them carte blanche I feel that we (other guests) are also partially responsible for this behavior.

By walking away from them and "turning the other cheek" the tour groups get what they want. I don't put up with anybody pushing past me in a line regardless of where I am. I certainly won't put up with it at WDW either. Stand your ground when they try and push past.

If they get physical call a CM and get security involved. I really wouldn't want to cause trouble for Disney but if they are allowing this type of behavior without punishment I would bring this to the news if it happened to me.

I'm from Brazil. My first WDW trip was with one of those groups. Didn't care for the behavior of some of the teenagers. Please don't let some bad apples ruine the country's reputation.

It's not the country nor its people we have problems with, no no no...it's the tour groups. Just the tour groups. We don't condemn the whole by the behavior of the few.

So true... the tour groups allow for "mob mentality" to-set-in too easy. Its not the kids fault...its the adults that take the money and send too many kids with too few tour guides. Its also Disney that takes the money and looks the other way.

Another example from someone who works at Disney- "Brazilian tour groups who try to steal heads/gloves/ etc. One time at the "Hat" (MGM/Disney Studios) they figured out where our exit/entrance was for Characters. Because the Hat is a round robin, characters enter and exit without assistance from attendants. Normally we are okay. On the day in question, the group blocked the door and held down poor Friar Tuck and tried to take off his head and other costume pieces. Thankfully people came to his rescue."

That is horrible! Were they kicked out of the park?

We were eating at 1900 Park Fare and there was a group of about 120 15 year old girls! It was just my 4 year old daughter and I for this meal.

The problem that I had was that they got up and wandered around the restaurant and came to the tables while the characters were visiting with other guests. There was one occasion when Tigger had to leave because the girls were hanging onto him and grabbing him. It was really a little scary because they were pressing in around him, (and our table). One of the girls leaned on our table and I looked up at her and shook my head and her friend told her to move. Until they left, I just held my daughter in my lap because it was too uncontrolled for my comfort.

The manager, the waitress, and other staff all asked them to sit down and wait for the characters to come to them and to not go to the tables of other guests. The manager spoke to their leader several times and the leader told them to stay seated as well.

Our waitress was great and got the characters to visit us once the group left.

So the girls were ....ing Tigger? How classless can you be?

I am Brazilian, and I'm here on my computer lauging so hard b/c I know exactly what it is that you all are talking about!! lol

I'm brazilian too and i can't laugh about it! :confused3 I feel ashamed by this!

My second WDW trip was with one of those groups (january/2006, I was 15yo) , and I can tell you, we were SO different from what you guys talk about. First of all, we did not wear matching shirts, so you could barely notice us walking around. No chanting all the time, no running around like animals, and i can asure you, we never did the whole " I'm catching up to my party" to cut lines. Or anything else to cut lines! And all of us spoke a pretty decent english!

It makes me really sad to see all these threads complaining about brazilian tour groups. Believe me, that is not the first one I see here! I can understand all the "avoid the brazilian tour groups", but some replies are just about prejudice against Brazil. Teenagers can be annoying if they want!! Not just the brazilian ones!! But because most of the groups are brazilians, it sounds like ALL brazilian groups are just a nightmare to any american going to WDW!!

"Please don't let some bad apples ruine the country's reputation." or brazilians reputation, please!! Not all of us are like those out of control teenagers!

We saw quite a few groups in the parks last week, but didn't notice any obnoxious behavior at all. After reading all the negative posts about the Brazilian groups on this board, I was ready for the worst, but were pleasantly surprised by their good behavior.

So what is with all the chanting? Why do they do it? Is it a popular thing to do back i Brazil? I mean you don't see groups of American kids, Brits, or any other culture at that, just the Brazilians. Don't get me wrong I am not bashing the Brazilians I am just curious as to why they chant, and what exactly do they chant about? Just curious.:cool1:

We've only had one occasion to see the BTG. On our last trip to DHS they were there too. In the morning it was a pain to get a FP for RnRC. That night they were at Fantasmic not too far from us. The chanting was "entertaining". Seeing as it was Mardi Gras, the Louisianians chanted back "L-S-U". As we had plenty of beads left we started to throw them to the girls. They enjoyed it very much. The only problem was they didn't fulfill their end - if you know what I mean!!:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
