Any kind of ship's tour my DH can take to get a behind-the-scenes look? Bridge, galleys, etc?

When I have been on the 7 day cruise they had galley tours. When u get board go to guest services and sign up.

Seems the galley tour is reported to be there and not to be there. We haven't seen one offered since the Dream started sailing. As far as bridge or other behind the scenes, the closest you are probably going to get is the virtual tour they show on the big screen near the pool. They've discontinued most of the behind the scene tours in the past few years. I know a few (usually concierge) get invited to tour the bridge but that's pretty rare - 32 DCL cruises and we're still waiting for our invite!

I would guess that it's extremely rare these days, as in impossible. One of the industry-wide recommendations that came out of the Costa Concordia accident last year was to limit visitors to the bridge. Although they are still allowed by industry regulations in some cases, it would not surprise me if DCL has chosen to eliminate them completely. It would be very bad PR if something were to happen and bridge visitors ended up being a factor once again.

Bummer. He will just have to rewatch Behind the Magic 2013 again I guess lol

There are some behind the scene "tours" of various areas on the ship On Demand on your stateroom TV.

Great! Thanks :-)

It is not impossible. Even before the Concordia, DCL tried to limit bridge visits to when the ship was in port -- so it was safely parked and very difficult to run aground.

A Galley tour would be awesome. I hope these are available. I'm a total food/restaurant dork and I love this stuff. I look like this guy in kitchens popcorn::

The Fantasy offers galley tours on sea days. Go to GS after you board the ship to get a ticket.

It isn't a real "behind the scenes" tour, but there is one called "the Art of the Show" that was on the Fantasy that does give you some history and a look into some of the interesting areas of the ship (Palo and Remy's, among others) and some neat facts. He might enjoy that.

The Dream had a tour. Not sure what exactly you see, but it was in my Navigator this week.

Making of the Dream. Explore the origins of DCL and the latest and greatest innovations conjured especially for the Disney Dream in this fascinating and entertaining behind the scenes program.

Coooool!!!

I guess I should consider myself extremely lucky. On my first DCL (Sept 2010) me and my friends where invited to the bridge for a tour with the Captain. He explained all the gadgets and such and even allowed those that wanted to blow the horn.

Last month on the Fantasy we did both the "Art of the Theme" tour as well as the galley tour. We very much enjoyed them both. Just after boarding we went straight to Guest Services to get tickets. They were both for adults only.

We had tickets for the galley tour on the fantasy two weeks ago. We just asked guest services if any tours were available after boarding the ship. Unfortunately, we totally forgot about the tour when it came up on Thursday. We felt really bad plus we really wanted to do it.
