I am not looking for sympathy, but just wanted to pass on some news. On Friday we had a call for a 36 year-old man who had his leg caught in an auger. He was in corn bin and somehow slipped into it. It took us an hour to get him out he will probably lose his leg at the hip. I then spent three hours in the hospital, because I found out that I'm allergic to corn dust or mold. It caused me to have shortness of breath their required medication. But I am better now.
Then Saturday morning a friend from another local fire department was mowing grass. Apparently he got too close to a creek and the tractor tipped over he suffered massive head injuries and was flown to Chicago. Unfortunately he died from his injuries. I had known him for 20 years and he was a good friend. He was also an instructor and a local high school career center. He was well liked by all the students and will be sorely missed.
Hopefully today will go better. Coleen and I are going to a wine tasting party. That will probably help a little.
