Is MCO up and running on touchless ID? If you have used it how does it work? My home airport isn't up on it until the summer. I am flying SW so I can use it if it's up and running.
Not sure if it is working at MCO but I have used it at ATL.
I think it depends on what airline as to how you register for the service.
Ultimately you have to have it on your boarding pass once it is issued. If so you then just walk up and stand in front of the camera, it takes your picture, and the TSA agent tells you if you are good to go or not.
I’ve used it at the New Orleans airport. As above, it was easy - get face lined up in camera, wait for photo, walk through after agent tells you to.
I had tried to use it at MCO a few weeks before, but it wasn’t on my boarding pass, probably because I registered for it long after i bought the airline ticket.
I flew out of MCO just over a month ago and used touchless without any problem. It was on my boarding pass and worked smoothly just like it has at IAD and EWR recently. All of these flights were on United which I opted into via my profile in the app.

It was a separate precheck line to the left of the regular precheck. Really quick and easy. I was through in maybe 3 minutes. Just look for the touchless icon.

Yes, as above, it’s the same as PreCheck. The difference is you don’t have to show your ID or boarding pass to the TSA agent, all you do is have your photo taken. So no trying to keep from dropping your ID and phone (or paper boarding pass) while juggling carryons. Much easier, much faster!

It is easy and I find it preferable at airports where it's offered. It's currently available at 60 airports, mostly large hubs. It will continue expanding to other airports throughout 2026.
ATL has had it for awhile - for a hot minute it was the best thing going… until everyone started using it. It’s now settled in to be roughly the same as the Pre-check or Clear lanes (can vary a lot on time of day though).
For the pre-check question Touchless ID is separate from that technically speaking but it only available to Pre-Check customers at this time so you do get the pre-check benefits while using it still.
That's just clarifying that part because TSA hasn't stated they won't ever expand this exact program to other passengers. They do have already other programs that are similar (meaning they use facial recognition to reduce what you have to provide the TSA agent) both available to precheck and non-precheck passengers.
It's also only available at the moment with
Alaska Airlines
American Airlines
Delta Airlines
Hawaiian Airlines
Southwest Airlines
United Airlines
It requires your passport information be in your airline profile and you must opt in. If you purchase a ticket then opt into touchless ID it is not normally intended to apply to an existing purchased ticket. We opted in for our two international trips this year but well after purchasing the tickets so unlikely we'll get it, which is fine.
