On 9/11 every year my department holds a ceremony for all those who were lost on that terrible day. In 2003 I took my daughter with me to the ceremony and a newspaper photographer caught this image of me and my daughter.
My chief thought it was so poignant for the time that we put together a photo board of 9/11 images and every year no matter if it's the first time or the 100th time you see this photo all who see it tell me how much it touches them.
The first time my chief gave it to me I had tears in my eyes and my wife did too when I showed her. Everyone who sees it says it is the true meaning of why emergency services workers do the job each and everyday.
I hope you all think so..May we never forget.

Thank you for posting -- awesome photo  And, thanks for doing what you do!

Amazing photo!!

This past 9/11 I was saddened to hear that something in the order of 663 firemen, policemen, other rescue workers, and clean-up crews have died since 2001 - and many are believed to have died from illnesses related to the toxic air they inhaled during their heroic efforts..:sad1:

I am assuming that you were there that day - and I pray that you are still in good health..

Beautiful photo. It brought tears to my eyes, as well. :goodvibes

thank you. I have a similar picture of me and my daddy in his uniform. Yours is beautiful.

Gorgeous! Tears immediately welled up in my eyes when I saw it...
It's so sad, yet good at the same time...that every 9/11, I am soo emotional. Of course I think about what happened often, but just as the passing of a loved one, time does begin to heal. But, on 9/11, particularly this year for some reason, I cried the majority of the day. I just can't imagine what the people went through that day, their families, and what they continue to deal with today.
Although I am not a supporter of war (sorry if this bothers some, or seems a contradiction, it's just MY feelings), I do support our soldiers and the sacrifices they make for what THEY believe in....

I'll never forget.
Thanks for sharing a wonderful picture, and for all you do

Very touching. Thanks for sharing.
