I know there's a set of rules for costume wearing to the TOTP, does anyone know these actual rules? I want to be Violet Incredible so just wanting to make sure I can :)

At the ToTP you're fine to go as Violet. You will not be able to wear the costume into Disneyland park or into DCA during regular park hours.

The last I heard the rules were that masks were allowed if your eyes were clearly visible. They may change the rules for 2010 but I don't know. Even if masks were not allowed, I suppose you could use draw your mask on with make-up (which might be better for your comfort anyway).

Have a great trip!

I can't seem to find the rules from past years, but I thought that if you are an adult, no masks are allowed... but I could be remembering that wrong. (ETA: Found the official rules. See post 6 on this thread.)

I DO know that if you are attending as a Disney character there is a rule that you are not allowed to pose for pictures with Guests or sign autographs.

If I can find the costume guidelines, I'll add them here. (ETA: Found the official rules. See post 6 on this thread.)

On another board, someone got irate because he had an elaborate mask and masks were allowed as long as you could see the person's eyes. He figured that since he followed the letter of the rules (at the right angle, you could see his eyes) that it was acceptable. Some people did tell him he was fine, but then it was deemed that you could not see his eyes (which from some angles you couldn't), so he was asked to leave. People on that board were speculating that this incident might cause the party to change its rules next year, but I personally think that if there are major rule changes it's not likely to be because of one irate guest.

Most other events outside of DCA do not allow adults to wear masks, though.

Regardless, an Incredibles mask (if it only covers the area around the eyes) might slide through even if they changed the mask rules this year, since it's not really a full-face mask and in theory wouldn't obscure vision nor visibility of the eyes.

(I heard about the no-pictures-with-Guests rules too but I've seen some posed pictures--I wonder if everyone in the picture is in costume, if they're maybe more lenient, since they can't really tell if it's Guests posing with them or just a group of people getting photos?)

I found these on another message board site. These were the rules printed on the person's ticket in both 2007 and 2008. I would guess they have not changed.

Costume Information
All event attendees — including adults — may dress in their favorite Halloween costume and must follow these and other guidelines as determined solely by Disney:
- Costumes should be child-friendly and may not be obstructive, offensive or violent.
- Guests may wear masks. However, masks must not obstruct vision and eyes must be visible at all times.
- Guests that dress like Disney Characters may not pose for pictures or sign autographs for other Guests.
- Costumes should not drag on the ground.
- Costumes should not contain sharp objects, pointed objects or materials that may accidentally strike another Guest.
- Costumes should not contain any weapons which resemble or could easily be mistaken for an actual weapon.
- Guests of all ages may only wear costumes to the Mickey's Halloween Treat event to which they have valid tickets. During normal Park operating hours, costumes are only permitted for Guests ages 9 and younger.
- Guests that do not adhere to these guidelines may be refused entry into the event unless their costume can be modified to meet the above standards.
