I am NOT starting any rumors. I do not have a clue what is going to happen to Disney or DVC with all the takeover talks. However, I would like some opinions on the future of VB if Disney is bought out. As everyone knows, VB was not a strong seller for DVC. From what I have read VB has more non-DVC guests then DVC guests. I don't know if that statement is true or not but I have seen it mentioned numerous times. It seems like it would be easy to "dump" after a takeover since it doesn't have the tie-in to WDW like the other DVC resorts (excluding HH). Again, this is ONLY speculating, but what do you think would become of VB if someone else takes over. Do you think it is as secure as all the other DVC resorts or do you think it may face a different fate? Thanks for your opinions.

As long as VB makes as much money as the other Disney resorts, I don't see why they'd want to sell it. Of course, VB vacations don't generate the park/concession/souvenir income for Disney. I guess my final answer is....I don't know!

It would have to be sold subject to all of the RTU contracts (contracts held by DVC members).

Seems to me that the only money to be made until the contracts expire is perhaps a small profit on the resort managment / reservation system. Why would someone invest several million dollars to buy the resort under those conditions? Doesn't make any sense to me at all! Don't think it will happen.

But they could sell the management contract unilaterally. Personally I don't think anything will happen to HH or VB.

I am pretty sure that in your contract - there is something about the owners taking over the place - that would be a good thing!!!

I think if 90% (correct me if I am wrong) member vote to take over the place and Disney does get out of it - that would happen before an outsider took control.

I don't remember all the details - but my guide (back in 92) went over this in detail - maybe because DVC was still a question mark in those days - and WDW might have sold it.

I think all the contracts have this in them (okay I haven't looked) - not just OKW (or DVC as it was called then).

When it's sold out, it's already paid for. There is no financial loss for Disney, just loyal customers who believe in Disney and regularly spend major $$$ at thier parks and facilities. Vero member often rotate through other DVC resorts spending money at WDW, and can be dual home resort owners. Why sell? Do you know the cost of achieving that kind of customer loyalty? It's something not to be squandered.

I'd have to agree with CaptainMidnight. Selling off of HH or VB would cause a loss of credibility for the DVC. Since members of both resorts also frequent the parks, buy merchandise, etc, it wouldn't be a wise business decision to sell any of the DVC holdings.
