what's all of this trading, buying points mean? We normally stay at Ft. Wilderness in a cabin... but I'm wondering if buying someone's points and staying somewhere else would be cheaper? We're paying $300 a night at the cabin~

My parents are going with us... and it would be nice to all share.

So I'd have a family of 7 need 3 bedrooms, for Nov 12 - 17 or 18th.

How much are we talking for the resort? :confused3

Or is it cheaper to do a package and stay at Ft. Wilderness and My parents would stay at PO

Thanks for your help

The DVC 3 bedrooms book very quickly - if you are thinking of this November, there are almost certainly waitlists for those units at that time.

To get an idea of the cost to rent, look for the DVC Point Charts link near the top of the page. SSR, OKW & BWV all have 3 bedroom units (also known as Grand Villas). Points go for $10-$12 each (more for popular resorts or tough toget reservations). Weekends (Fridays and Saturdays) are more expensive tha the weeknights. Also consider a 2 bedroom and a studio - although there is no guarantee that the units willb e located close together.

I do not think renting points will turn out less expensive than $300/night, but you will get a LOT more for your $$ in the DVC units. There is no additonal tax for the DVC units when you rent points.

Best wishes -

We usually get two studios. (Also 7 of us) We own at Wilderness Lodge...and have stayed in the cabins at FW as well....the cabins would have more space/full kitchen. But it is nice to be together. We put my oldest son in the studio w/my mom and my brother because they are close in age.

I wish I could go the dates you're looking at...For the dates you're planning 12-17th..You could rent 120 points for a two bedroom (sleeps 8) at Old Key West. If you needed the additional studio that's only 40 points for the 5 nights. So thats only 160 points in total....(Go to the rent/trade thread to see the going rate...maybe $10 or $11 per point?) Fri/Sat nights cost more points.

That could be almost 1/2 of what you're paying for the cabin (unless that's a package and includes passes too?). I think a three bedroom at OKW would be 225 points. Its worth looking into.

Yes, you can go there and post a "Wanted" thread for the dates of your trip and amount of points you'll need, where you want to stay etc. Read all the stickys...i think the thread title needs to follow some format. Good Luck
