OK here I go.

I have lurked here for a while, but I guess now is the time to jump in and tell my story. I think all this support maybe the answer I need to jump start a healthier thinner life.

Since Jan. my DH, DSs and I have been watching our food choices. No particular program, just low fat stuff, whole wheat bread, lots of veggies, little to no red meat and lots of fish and chicken.

My girlfriend I took a Pilates class at the Y. (Wow is it tough!) Great workout, but so hard.:) We also attemped to do cardio at the Y twice a week.

I really stuck to all this faithfully for the month of Jan. Lost about 4 pounds! 4 pounds. I need to loose about 65. 4 was like a penny tip! So frustrating.

So honestly it's been hard to keep the sweets out of my mouth since then and Pilates is over. We start aerobics next week three times a week.

I really want to take off at least 30 big one before April 22. We leave for our first ever Dcruise! So exciting, but let me tell you trying on those formals with these large hips is YUCKY!

I keep hearing you all talk about FIRM tapes. Can someone explain what they are? I think more exercise at home would be a good boost for me.

Also, do you think my lack of an "eating plan" is my down fall? I just don't want to restrict my family too much. My DH hates diets. He has been getting up at 4:30 am and working out at the Y on the Nautilus 3 days a week and doing 60 minutes of cardio the other 2! He has lost 15 pounds, but still eats very large portions. He is not willing to give up his food portions;)
Any suggestions would be great. Thanks for listening.

Hi Tandy, welcome to WISH. I think you have made a great step towards success by joining us on WISH. I can't tell you how much this forum has been instrumental in my weight loss success.

For me personally the key is moderation and exercise, I follow a loosely based WW program (hence the reason for the slower weight loss, but longer term success for me because I eat what I really want, just in moderation). I have tried a ton of diets in the last 20 years and I have never been able to lose weight and keep it off until now and I feel that is because you can't just watch what you eat, you have to get moving too. At a minimum the experts recomend that you do some form of physical fitness at least three times a week for 30 minutes....I can tell you it makes all the difference.

Four pounds is a good start....four pounds lost is better than four pounds gained. Grab a clippie and stop by often for support, encouragement and fun.

Hi Tandy and welcome to WISH :wave2: I like tiggerlover don't follow a set eating plan, I make sensible choices and keep my calorie intake to around 1200. You don't need to follow a set eating plan to lose weight. If you lower your intake of food and make sensible food choices, combined with exercise you will lose weight. It may be that you will lose it slower than you would like, but you will lose it. The thing is to stay motivated even on the weeks when you don't lose anything, because you never know when you're going to get on the scale and lose 6 or 7 pounds :hyper:

looks like you already got your suggestions, and good ones they are :)

i just wanted to WELCOME you to WISH! i'm glad you decided to join us, we are here for you! you are worth it!

Hello Tandy! I'll echo the others... welcome to WISH! :bounce:

You seem to be on the right track. People on this board are on a lot of different plans.. Weight Watchers, South Beach, Atkins, etc...but no matter what plan (or your own plan) that you are on, you'll find lots of support here. I'm on a low-carb plan myself, but different things work for different folks.

Here's WISHing you success! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

I am on the road to a fitter healthier life now:D

I appreciate all your advise and kind words.

Hi Tandy, welcome to WISH. I'm really glad you decided to "delurk" and join us.

If you haven't done so already, would you do me a favor and post to our WISH Challenge thread too? I use this thread to compose our member roster and if you don't post there I might leave you out. I would hate for that to happen.

You will find the challenge thread right HERE

You may add the WISH member clipart to your signature, if you haven't done so already. What we do is start with a zero loss no matter how much weight we may have lost before taking the challenge. Then everytime we lose 5 pounds we get to "trade up" to a new clipart. It's fun and motivating.

There is an excellent post composed by our own LisaTx that explains exactly how to add the clipart to your signature. You will find it right HERE

Visit us often!
