Total panic set in...but I'm good now!

I am heading to WDW in less than two weeks for a split stay at BLT/BWV. We are waitlisted for a 1bdrm for the first night (currently in a studio). So...I check my account online every day (sometimes several times a day) to see if it's come through. We have a friend going down Sunday - staying on our points at BWV. Well, when I was checking my waitlist I noticed points in my account that should not be there...so I checked the reservations. My friends reservation was not there!

I just called MS. They were showing the ressie as cash. I said, nope, not cash. He put me on hold for several minutes and came back with "I have some very good news for you!" They have upgraded the room to a preferred view room - AT NO ADDITIONAL POINT CHARGE! They will be taking the 65 points out again (bummer) once it processes through. I have no idea why...can only guess they overbooked somehow, maybe with central reservations so they bumped a member to preferred? I have no idea. So...our friends are in for a big surprise at check-in!

Anyone ever have this happen? I know upgrades are HIGHLY unusual for DVC. Also a little bummed it's not on my personal ressie

Central's inventory at DVC resorts is separate from DVC's so I don't think bookings being done on Central's side impacted this DVC points reservation.

I think when your friend's reservation on points disappeared that it may have been due to fault on DVC's part either human error or system glitch; so when you called MS and they saw this when they sorted through things perhaps at that point they didn't have any standard views available so they offered Preferred for same points as standard (without ever admitting the initial 'error' )

Nice score and no doubt your friends will be happy I'd just keep my eye on the points,check that MS doesn't end up pulling the points for Preferred after your friends have checked in.

Robert...I wish it was for me. A friend of ours went down with her family (first visit for her hubby and kids). I didn't warn her ahead of time, so she probably won't even know there is a difference. I'll have to bring her up to speed and back to reality LOL!

5forDiz - they took the points back out...just the 65

Now if only that pixie dust would sprinkle on us for our trip in 9 days
