Yes, total panic. My 20 year DD called completly panic stricken. She had left the house to get some groceries and when she returned 30 minutes later, all hell broke loose. Here is the article I got online. I will say, it's looking better. My 13 DD isn't allowed out of the house yet, for safety reasons. My 20 DD can't get to her, but its' looking better..please keep my 13 DD Abby in your thoughts. The military has been called in:

Hazmat Spill Closes Highway
Carteret - 7/30/2009
A hazmat spill forces part of highway 70 to shut down.

Officials say a home medical transport van was involved in a wreck and overturned. The vehicle is leaking liquid oxygen. It happened near Gramercy Christian School just outside of Newport.

Highway 70 is closed in both directions and traffic is being re-routed. Cherry Point's Hazmat Team and other crews are on the scene working to clean up the spill.

We have a crew on the scene and will bring you the latest information as it comes into the newsroom.

I can't begin to tell you all, how worried I was...just hearing her voice helped SO much. Would you believe it, she said, "Mom, I don't know if this is a good time to tell you, but one of my braces brackets fell off, am I in trouble?" I wanted to hug her through the phone. As soon as I hear news, I'll update!

Thanks Rosie. Things like this ALWAYS are so random. I was upstairs, enjoying a great office luncheon, a co-worker is leaving and getting married. Much to celebrate. I come downstairs, and see my daughters had called 11 times between the 2 of them....ahhhh, that was INSTANT panic for me. The 20 year old is JUST like me, we go from normal to OFF THE CHAIN in 5 seconds. It wasn't good...my friend took the phone and was able to find out what was going on. Her hubby is a police officer, she was just so calm. As of a few minutes ago, they were still spraying the van down, in hopes of moving it. As SOON as its' gone, I'll breathe better. Oye vey, is it okay to drink on the job? I just want 1 glass of wine! ;)

Well, I don't see how one small glass of wine could hurt!

Or one itsty bitsy fifth of bourbon, either! :thumbsup2

:scratchin Hmm. Maybe I should go try and convince my boss of that. It'd sure improve my day!

Isn't it crazy?

I went camping this weekend only to discover I had no phone reception. Now, I talk to my daughters every single day, and I felt sick when I couldn't reach them. I didn't want them to worry about me ( I couldn't call to say I arrived)... and I had them on my mind all night long. Don't you know the next morning I had my husband drive me back into town so I could connect with them.

I don't care how old they get, we'll NEVER stop worrying. That's just apart of it!

As the daughter of a mom just like you Rosie... we appreciate it!

My mom and I own a four family and I live on the 1st floor, and she on the 2nd, so even now... at 29 years old... I still let her know where i am going and when i expect to return... She worries when she doesn't see my car outside...

Chris, hope everything gets cleared up real soon! :wizard:  :flower3:

Chris, I hope they get the spill cleaned up quick and your DD can get back home!
DS is the same age as Abby and he is funny about staying by himself. He would come UNGLUED if something like that happened and we couldn't get to him. :scared1:
I am glad the girls are safe!

When Tara was a teenager she at first resented the fact that I asked her to check in...but when I asked her how she would feel if she expected me home from work at 4 o'clock and I didn't show...no phone call, no nothing, she quickly realized that it was a matter of courtesy, not mistrust.
I never asked my kids to do something I myself didn't do.

What a scary situation! It's hard enough to be with your kids in a dangerous situation, but to not be there and not be able to get there...That has to be scary!! Good thoughts coming your way!

Thank god it was liquid oxygen.
And not some other Hazmat nastiness.

Glad it's under control now.

 Goodness. That must have terrified you. :(

It's good to come in on the end of the situaiton sometimes. I got to hear about it and that it was cleared all at the same time.

Take care now, and make sure you have that wine when you get home! Heck! Have TWO glasses!
