Total Nightmare @ Disney

I have a friend who is in Disney now... she thought that Chef Mickeys was 2 table service credits so paid cash for sci-fi a few nights prior and was upset that she could have used her dining credits. She simple went to sci-fi the next... They refunded her money in exchange for the dining credits! Sooooo if u have a issue that needs addressing don't wait untill u come home do it while ur there if u can... They could gave said 'too bad, not our problem' but they didn't. Plus I think it helps being in person when u have a complaint.

Did she not review the DDP info that came w/ her package when she checked in? Or check into the DDP before buying it? Or when she booked her ADR's asked the person she booked with or looked at the info online? Amazes me that people do not do thier own research and ask Disney to do something about it. Just reminds me that all of my teachers used to have a little sign in thier room "A lack of planning on your park does not constitute an emergency on my part", I of course never really got that in school but see it more and more true everyday.

the only thing i have to add is that i would consider rooms not ready at 3pm checkin to be below par.
In keeping with the spirit of this thread, I must disagree respectfully. Check-in is after, not at, 3 PM. Now, a room not being ready until 10 PM - or the OP's experience - is subpar, I agree. But simply not having access to one's hotel room (anywhere) at/by 3 PM? Typical - not subpar by any means.

Anyone in a similar position can also simply go to Lobby Concierge at their own resort for resolution - but you're right. Whenever possible, issues should be addressed "live", not once one is home. But the OP tried that and was still frustrated :)

Well then i would question why a time is even stated then. After 3pm would indicate 3:01pm the room is ready. Is 3:30 too early to expect the room or should we draw the line at 4:00...oh, this is so confusing, i have a headache. oh, wait, i know what works...say it will be ready for 3pm and have it ready for 3pm. Gee, that's so simple, why didn't we think of that sooner.

On a different note, would you accept an excuse from a car rental agent when you had reserved a car for a pick up time and you get to the counter and they are 'all out'. An industry that is notorious for not adhering to reservations. Ever watch Sienfeld or better yet - Planes, Trains & Automobiles?

If it's AFTER 3 PM then that could mean any time that day. I find it hard to believe that people would be happy if they had to wait several hours past check in time. I agree with the question: where would the cut off be?

3:01 p.m.

I guess i should have just googled the questions.... but here are a few details of what took place...

10 nights 9/2 All Star Sports

Arrived 9/2 @10pm

Room temp was 83 and it seems the AC was not working.... call and said they will send someone out... midnight came and no one arrived... call them back to have someone come out in the morning because i need to get 2 tear old son to sleep....

But i guess you get what you pay for

Advice for next time - at ANY hotel you get too - DO NOT accept the room unless everything alright. Always easier to change a room before you have unpacked! I always go to the room first and check it out, then haul the bags in. I know, I know how hard it is with a young child. My son is just 6 now, and I have had to swap rooms several times at Disney with a young, over-tired child, and an even worse-overtired husband ;) (who always wants to handle it later!). I stand firm and get it done right the first time.

By the way, this could have happened (and does!) at any of the Disney Resorts. It was not the fact you stayed at a value resort.

I could have called several trips "nightmares" too, but didn't, because I handled the "bad" room with Disney ASAP. Just this past Feb 2011, I arrived late at Caribbean Beach (9-10pm). Went to first room - smell of mold overpowering, carpet was wet. Drove back to lobby. Talked to CM - excuse me I cannot stay in that room - allergic to mold. Got 2nd room key. Drove to 2nd room - Mold smell not as bad, but water was in riverlets down the windows and walls. (Note, it wasn't raining or anything - this is just the bad air-conditioning system at CBR). Drove back to lobby. Was given a room at Old Key West resort. Drove to OKW lobby. Got key and drove to room. No mold smell ! Halleluia!:littleangel: It was a very old OKW room - carpet was threadbare, some ceiling stains, tiny TV - but aromatically okay! If it wasn't the middle of the night, I would have complained about that one too probably, but I was there on business and would only be sleeping in the room anyway.

As one of the first posters mentioned. You GOTTA handle this then&there upon arrival. Disney has ALWAYS fixed it.

I find it amazing that it takes three times to get a decent room at Disney. Honestly, I find this to be expected at Red Roof Inn but not a Disney Resort. I think they are slipping.

I was okay with it. I would, however, not recommend a stay at CBR if and until they refurbish their a/c system. I think they are fully aware of this problem. It is the oldest moderate resort right?

Ooh, that's not good. Were either of those the "pirate" rooms? I hope the pirate rooms are OK...I can't be near mold either (honestly I don't think that anyone *should* be near it, but some of us are more like "canaries in a coal mine" than others, alerting the world to the problems in the air).

No, they were not pirate rooms. It is possible, since I think the pirate rooms are all in 1 building, that the entire building's a/c system was re-done when they re-furbished. I guess it depends on whether or not the building is on the same 20 year old a/c system as the other CBR buildings.

Being all out of cars isn't the same thing. Disney isn't saying that they have no more rooms, but that your room maybe not be ready until sometime after 3pm.

I wish they would guarantee that your room would be ready AT 3pm, rather than after 3pm. AFTER 3pm could be 10pm, or any other time after 3.

I am a little worried now, I am going to the CBR for my honeymoon in 3 weeks. I am highly allergic to mold, so far to the point that I can not breathe if I am around it for too long. My DH really wanted a caribbean theme though, and I do not think any moderates are available :sad1:

I hate to be a downer, but I am not the only person I know that cannot stay at CBR due to the very bad a/c system that produces wet carpets and rivers of moisture down the walls & windows.

That said, I would not worry. If your room has the slightest mold smell or you can see visible water streaming down the windows/walls, just go straight back down to the lobby and ask for another room.

Like I said, I was upgraded to a deluxe resort and someone else I know was upgraded to yacht & Beach Club due to the moldy CBR rooms. :yay: I would think your DH would be happy with a deluxe resort for the cost of a moderate?

It is in my book. If i reserved a certain class of car at the car rental and when i get there they don't have it available, then to me its the same as my room not being available.

It really doesn't matter why a room or car isn't available. It either is or isn't available for one's use. I mean really, do you care if the room isn't available because they overbooked or because it isn't prepped yet. Does it matter if they are all out of rental cars or that you can't have one because they aren't prepped yet. in the end it's the same result, you either have access to your reserved item or you don't.

Alright, who bumped this thread?!? :)

To take the rental car thread a bit further, it's like you rented a Toyota Corolla, got there, and they told you that the Corolla assigned to you hadn't been returned yet. But the yard is full of other Corollas, but you can't have them because they are already assigned to others who haven't picked them up yet...although in very rare circumstances the computer will magically bump you up to a Lexus that they couldn't rent because someone actually wrecked your Corolla...

1...Alright, who bumped this thread?!? :) in the words of Schultzie "I know nothing, nothing":rotfl2:
2...although in very rare circumstances the computer will magically bump you up to a Lexus that they couldn't rent because someone actually wrecked your Corolla...hey, if they wanted to upgrade me to a better room or resort at no charge, I'm all for that. IMHO, if hte room isn't ready, they should offer that option. It's called customer service. Being Disney, they should be going above and beyond in that department to remain on the pedestal the are on
.

I'm sorry the op had an awful first couple of days, but...you know there is always a "but"...:rotfl2: Why do people wait for things to be fixed. We don't wait, we kindly demand another room, especially for something like air conditioning. I'm not a picky customer, but with 3 kids all under 7(7yo, 5yo, 1yo), at 10pm in the evening I am not about to sleep in a room that is sweltering or wait for someone to fix it at that hour. OP, why did you not request a room change immediately? Regarding the tickets...someone can always do something, you just need to talk to the right person. They would have let you into MK for the day without going back to AS. Been there, done that. You just need to be kindly persistent and keep talking until you get what you need. :confused3

But that's just it. The OP did get another room. A suite in fact. Yet, they want to send another letter to yet complain again. I just don't understand that part.
