I was in my brother and sister in law's wedding last summer, and this was the breakdown:
dress: $200 or $250
alterations: $100
shoes: free, as the bride just said "wear a pair of silver shoes" and I already had a pair
hair and makeup: free - my Mom paid for the updo (around $60) and I did my own makeup. I think I paid $30 for a mani/pedi, but I don't count that as I would have had one anyway.
bridal shower: $50
bachelorette
around $300 for a weekend in Atlantic City
gift: $100
hotel: Parents paid for it, so free for me. Would have been around $120 otherwise.
Luckily, my SIL was a very relaxed bride!
