We haven't ridden ToT at DL yet, only at WDW. Our friends were just at DL and said there was no preshow, with the elevator moving through the halls w/ the Twilight Zone narration etc. Were they mistaken? Or do they maybe not show that part during really busy times?

TIA!

The 5th dimension room portion of the elevator itself is not in the DCA(or DLRP) version. However, the library with the narration and the narration that you're going to the Twilight Zone is still part of the show.

The WDW version is better, although the randomized drop sequence sometimes gives you an experience not as fun as others. The DCA version is not random, but does a nice job at messing with your mind.

They DO do some narration during the ride before the drops begin. However at DCA the elevator does not move "out" of the shaft into the hallway. It just opens up at one floor while the narrator talks about what happened.

Well darn! I'm sure we'll still have a blast though.

Thanks for your replies. :thumbsup2

You will. ToT is still a great attraction, it's just not as good as the original(which tends to be the rule for any attraction that Disney clones).

IMO, the difference between DCA's ToT and DHS' ToT is much less dramatic than the difference between the two POTCs. Disneyland's POTC is over twice as long as MK's.

Based on what level you load on, your experience will be different. So even though we don't have the "randomization" of drop sequences, they aren't the same every time anyway. Plus all three elevators are different, separate systems and you probably won't ride the same one every time.

The queue has a lot of references to Twilight Zone episodes, although I have yet to see many of them. If you're a fan you should definitely keep an eye (and ear) open for them!

Our ride lacks the 5th Dimension portion of the ride, but you still move laterally (backwards) to enter the ride shaft which is still pretty fun.

I like the DCA version, and it's still scary waiting for the elevator to drop. That's such a realistic fear though, to be in a falling elevator! It's one of my favorite rides just because it's so intense for a Disney ride. You'll still enjoy it and the view from the 13th floor. Haha.

I'm too scared to ride ToT. I have a fears of heights. I feel bad because I know my b/f is dying to ride it.

my son really wants to ride this with me. I did it in wdw with dh. He wont do it again but if my son goes i want to make dh go and we get a pic lol but i still dont know if 6 is a good age for it. should he really go on it.

I do not like this ride..scares me..but I will add that when we went to WDW long ago my brother and I rode it.. it was crazee!! Then we got to go on the one in DCA during its "soft" opening.. and we thought we knew it all.. :lmao: um well it was very different than what we were expecting!!! It was fun..but not my favorite!! I go on it with DH when we have someone to kid sit..that being said, in Feb my DD 5 was in tears begging to go it!!!! So we took her..she was ok!! When we went back a few weeks ago she was begging my DH to take her..so he did!! We bought the picture of her holding her hands up with him smiling!!!! She was sooo happy!! She is 5 and loves it!! And has no ill feelings about it. She does space mountain also and likes that one!! She is dying to Indiana..I told her maybe when she is 6!!!!
