I was just wondering if they had changed most or all of the lap bars to seat belts in ToT.

thanks for the help

Ally:p

Nope, still just the middle seat in the back. I hope they don't put seatbelts in all of the seats...the air time is most of the fun!

Actually they ARE changing the bars to lap belts in ALL the cars. I've read that they only have a few of the cars done so far, not all are complete.

I was just wondering because i perfer the seatbelt because i am very small and when i ride with riders who are alot bigger than me i feel like i will fall out if i don't hold on for dear life.

We got a car that was all lap belts a few weeks ago. We took a left at the fork in the queue and then we were directed to a car that was to the farthest right. If you mention your preference to the CM directing guests to the elevators, they should be able to assist you.

BTW, the new sequencing is great!!!!:D

They have converted at least half of the cars to all seatbelts. They've been making pretty good progress, so I wouldn't expect it to take too much longer to do them all.

It doesn't matter which load shaft you go to; you can get a seat belt car at any of them.

Well, that ruins that ride for me. We were there in January and experienced only lap bars. My son is going to be crushed.

The seatbelt doesn't HAVE to be super tight and hold you completely down. I've gotten more air time with the belt than the bar because I'm always the largest person in the row. Of course the people with me got mega air time.:p

That's why my son will be crushed. His little self got mega airtime by riding with my big self. :)

Why are they changing to the seatbelts? Was there an accident---the bars seemed pretty safe to me. I do have to say you do get good air time either way. Remember the seat in row 5 in the back that was always a seatbelt with no bar? That to me was the BEST ride in the house!!

I like the lap bars because there is something to hold onto :) :) . If they change all the elevator cars to seat belts, what is there to hang onto??

Well......... when i did go, in novemeber, the back seat in the middle had the seat belt and i was afraid because their was nothing to hold onto but i realized you don't need to hold onto anything i felt very secure.... i still had air time ........ but not so much that i felt l was going to fall out. AND i think, i'm not totally sure , if you sit in the back row, middle seat, there are to handrails that come out of the seats to hold onto.

just how big are the new belts...i'm a pretty big guy (6' 3'' and about 300lbs) and have always enjoyed the lap bar...hopefully this doesn't present me and the other "large" riders with a problem...anyone else in this boat that might have experienced the lap belt???
thanx...

We juat got back on Friday night. We rode the ToT twice- once with the lap bar and then we were seated the next time in an "elevator" with seat belts. On one set of rows the belts didn't work, so we all had to get out and wait a bit until another car came- this one with the bar. I loved the bar and the "air time" as did my 8 yr old daughter. The waiting time for the bar lap car only made us more anxious and scared :) - I think because of the wait and the lap bar, the second time was the best!

only to prevent accidents ;) no need to wait untill something happened

I much prefer the seat belt route...to me, I seemed to get more airtime than with the lap bars. The belt was not tight in any way so I felt like I was floating the whole time while knowing that I was very secure. I was told in February that they were converting all the elevators over to belts because it was deemed to be safer for smaller riders...no accident had happened, just Disney being pro-active.
