ToT - how scary?

DH laughs at me, bc sometimes on ToT I laugh and clap without realizing I'm doing it.

That's probably you relieving tension. Laughter is a know way to express that.. I do it when I have had a really good chiropractic adjustment. All the tension comes out of my back and I curl into a ball and laugh for a good 5 minutes.

They either moved Demon Drop to Dorney Park (owned by Cedar Fair) or built a new one there, and I refuse to ride it anymore because it's one of the most painful rides I've ever been on. Horrible!

One of the craziest rides I was ever on was Kingda Ka at Six Flags Great Adventure. You want to talk about drops...how about looking straight down while falling almost 450 feet? :)

I SO want to ride that.

I will not do those slides. I will ride almost anything, twice to make sure I don't like it, but those slides are way too scary for me. Plus, if you don't cross your legs just right.. it's high pressured water in places where you don't WANT high pressured water...

Oooh yeah, that can be bad.

My favorite part of ToT is when you reach the elevator shaft and feel the temperature rise because you know the doors are about to open. That is my favorite "oh crap" moment. Then I can't stop laughing because the drop feeling "tickles".

Before we went to Hollywood Studios I showed my then 6 year old niece several you tube videos of the ride. I love the ride, but I didn't want to push her on something she would be scared of. The you tube videos did not scare her, she really wanted to go on the ride. I told her if at any time in the line we could turn around and exit, but going the the hotel with the creepy music and cobwebs she was fine. In the library with the TV show and the lights going out, no problem. Into the creepy basement through all the boilers, no worries. She was so excited to go on the ride I was thinking okay this will be great. Through the first part of the ride, which she had seen on you tube she was fine laughing even pointing out the ghost family. Then we entered the shaft where it goes pitch black as the ride capsule locks into place for the series of drops, She FREAKED OUT. Crumbled up into a ball and was still terrified after the ride had ended. Her mom and I bought her a lollipop to calm her down, but it probably took her a good half and hour to calm down. I think the issue was that during the drop portion of the ride, you can't see it in the you tube video and her 6 year old mind could not comprehend what the drop was. Make sure you daughter knows that it is a 13 story drop straight down in the dark, and then they lift you up and do it all over again several times. As an adult, see if you can sit in the back row, as it seems less scary when there are people in front of you, then in the front row.

Thanks for the tip, I'll definitely talk to her more about it before we go. She knows what a drop like ride is, but so far she's only been on the kiddie type ones, like the smaller frogger-type ones you'd find in the kids area of an amusement park.

She knows it's like that, but on a much bigger scale. I'll still try to prepare her as much as I can. And really reiterate with her, like you did, even in line if she wants out we can get out of line.

Oh man that ride looks awesome!! Something about a coaster ride vehicle makes me feel safer than those dangling drop towers.

I love ToT. I actually loosen the seat belt just a smidge so it's not so tight, which means that you lift off the seat a bit during the drops. It's almost relaxing.

Some people hate to drop, and some hate to spin. I love tower of terror, and I absolutely will not get in a tea cup.

The last time I went to WDW, my travel partner was telling that she wasn't all worried about riding the teacups with me. Bragging about being a big girl who can handle things. Well, I tried to warn her...

Halfway through the ride she says "okay, you can stop now..." and I didn't.. of course.. I was laughing hysterically as I was spinning that sucker for all it was worth.. I did stop a few seconds later tho.. and spun it in reverse.

Don't let anyone fool you, it's absolutely terrifying! I hadn't been on it since the 90's, so I thought I'd give it a go a couple years ago, since my fiance is new to Disney and had never been on it. While I've always loved the theming, the drop was awful. It went up and down so much I could no longer tell which way it was going. I was shaking for quite awhile afterwards.

Of course, I'm a big chicken when it comes to rollercoasters and drops.

As far as the drop part of the ride goes, that's pretty tame. I like drop rides, though. But what is cool and freaks lots of people out is the Twilight Zone theming / It's well done, but is pretty freaky. I took DS on when we was seven and it was really pretty terrifying for him. We skipped it next time, but now it's his favorite ride.

I'm with the folks on not liking the randomness. I had always been afraid of the Demon Drop until only the year it was going to be taken down I rode it and thought it wasn't bad. Rode Power Tower as well with the same thoughts. Rode everything I was afraid of that year - same. I rode TOT at DL and thought it wasn't bad a few years ago. Think I'd read they didn't have the randomness to it, that it's the same number of drops. Went this past Dec to WDW and nope not for me. I had 3x. I also don't like rides where I come off the seat so that just adds to it. To me not really scary per say, and think the initial part is fun, but don't like not knowing how many drops will come or what size they are. Really try it once and see how it is for you.

I am the exact same way. There isn't much I won't ride...but those water slides are out for me. When I was like 10 (maybe 11?) I went on one that was, in retrospect, probably too intense for my age (I'm surprised they even let me on it, honestly). It was my first time riding a slide with that kind of drop...long story short, I moved my head ever so slightly while going down it and ended up with a mild concussion from my head banging up against the side of the slide :scared: I will never ride another one as long as I live.

You and my husband must be related. He will ride anything and everything, unless it spins. He won't come within 10 feet of the tea cups!

We had a ride once where we were at the bottom the final film started showing, but instead of the ride ending, we got shot up one more time. Pretty wild.
we experience this a couple of times...I loved this...I'm just glad it wasn't my first time on the ride
