Disney just posted the first % for the 6.5K and it was 70%

Better hurry because it was even listed last week when they posted the 13K at 50%!

Robert, Dude, Disney's man with the plan. Got a question for you. Who would we approach about having a WISH Team day at WDW. This day a wish shirt would work as a fast pass for any of the rides and shows. We are loyal Disney lovers and promote the World to all.

I would figure someone at group sales at WDW. They could steer you in the right direction:confused3

OH NO! I have to make a decision. My daughter is 7- she says she wants to do the 6.5k with me. I've ordered her a WISH shirt and everything, but she seems to be way more focused on the shirt, the accessories, the medal, the ride, etc... Haven't heard much about the actual race! :rotfl: We'd be walking of course!

DH totally doesn't want to go. I'd almost resolved myself to not going- after all I did the Minnie and will be going Goofy, but now I've got DD totally obsessed with it. So, my mom has volunteered to come and watch the baby (who will probably be passed out by the time the race starts anyway- not too hard a job!)

How's this sound as an argument for going-- DD tried really hard to eat healthy and exercise this summer. She should get this as a reward for all her hard work. Certainly a race is positive reinforcement for being healthy!

If I can keep a straight face, I might be able to pull this off. :lmao:

Maybe I should just sign us both up with the understanding that I may be throwing the fees away...

Oh, and a WISH day would be fabulous!

Jen in GA - Hasn't your hubby been walking or running with you? Are you sure he wouldn't buy into doing this as a family thing together with DD? I think you should definitely be at ToT with all of us!!

Dang, I guess I should register, since I have a $50 coupon on my hotel until 7/31.

Well this got me off my behind. I just registered.

The boyfriend MIGHT be doing the 13K, but he doesn't like to committ this early (I just sent him an email saying "MAKE UP YOUR MIND" LOL!)

Jen you have to come and bring DD. We are going to have a great time and can't miss the first year:) Hope your DH changes his mind.

We did Goofy this year as well as Minnie and are dragging ours butts across country for ToT! And Goofy in Jan:eek:

Does anyone have an educated guesstimate as far as how much time there might be left to register for the 6.5k? I am, unfortunately, still tied on the fence and working out the multiple knots. I suppose I could just register and eat the fee if I am unable to go, but I'd rather not waste the money if possible.

IMHO: By going with what Disney "usually" does, the race wasn't at 50% last week when they posted the 50% for the 13K. That means it might have been say at the highest 49%(probably more like 45%) and it increaded from that to 70% today. That would mean it increased at least 20-25% in the last 8 days. If that stays on trend, it would fill in another 1 1/2-2 weeks. With the 70% being listed, I know many are signing up and it might fill even sooner. I wouldn't wait beyond next week:confused3

Hmmm.. so my excuse gets better. Robert and Leana and countless other WISHers fly across the country to go to all these events, but since we are within easy driving distance, I'm actually saving us money...:rolleyes1

Yes, DH is walking a bunch now. It's the pesky 1 year old I'm worried about. I almost invited my MIL to babysit, but then came to my senses. :rotfl: Heck, I could almost carry him in the race, but he's not so good at night.

DH is the type who will waffle until the last minute so I am scrambling to get a hotel room and dining. You know, decide late August to go Labor Day? That kind of thing. There's the problem with not having to worry about airfare!

I think I'll just register and pay the $80 for me and DD and then decide the details later. Maybe I'll look into booking a moderate or AllStar.

I'm thinking this is probably not the place to go for the "cons"- we're just a bunch of Disney running enablers!

Jen we are definitely not to be trusted to come up with the CONS for Disney races LOL Sometimes there are some members who if you catch them at the right moment you might get a more realistic input. Like Robert he tends to be a voice of reason. Erica perhaps but not Dave (*wink wink j/k Dave). Your more likely to find enablers here. Don't come here and ask if you really should buy that pair of $130 running shoes because we'll all be like 'of course, it's like eating your need shoes to run right?" not a peep will be that the $50 ones work just as well LMBO (guilty member of spending more on running shoes/apparel then on her work clothes)

I think it's a great idea to reward your DD with the 6.5K. Has she done the kids or 5K races Minnie's weekend or will she be doing them during the coming Marathon Weekend? I really think it's a great idea and what a wonderful way to start. It's something fun for her to work towards. She gets to RUN at Disney! Yeah I know kids run thru the parks everyday but really it's a real live Disney Race with a medal at the end. How kewl is that for a kid? I WISH I had been going as a kid and they had done this waay back then.

I hope we get to see you all there in October. Happy training to your entire family!!!! What a great way to spend time and work together towards the same finish line. I love it!!!! :cheer2:

Now now now. I can be the voice of reason.:teacher:

Ok lets talk reason here. You live once and only once. So let's go out and live. Every day should be preparing for the next adventure.pirate:

Yea, I know "I ain't right".:upsidedow
