Tortola - what excursions are running?

DCL is taking reservations for several excursions on Tortola.

They said they have no idea what excursion (Dolphin swim, Baths, etc) will be actually running for our cruise in May.

Has anyone been to Tortola and seen what is available?

Most of the cruise ships aren't going to Tortola right now.

The dolphin place is open, so I'd assume that runs. Anything with Pusser's Rum is not a going concern, and either is going to have a different route or not run. I would think the Baths and JVD will run IF excursion boats are available to get people to those islands, as both attractions are open, although the Soggy Dollar is running on generators and the limited facilities at the Baths are even more limited, per reports.

Cruise Critic has been running good updates.

Where are Disney ships going in lieu of Tortola? I'm wondering if it will even be ready by our cruise (beginning of April) or if I should keep alternate ports in mind should we have to reschedule...

Our March eastern was re-routed to St. Maarten. You might start looking at their offerings just in case you have a change.

FWIW, I just looked. Basically, the ships currently calling in Tortola are all smaller/older ships. Nothing large (like the Fantasy) is currently scheduled until April, and that may be subject to change.

I'm not sure if it's that the port just isn't ready to dock the big ships, or if they don't think the support is there for excursions. There simply isn't much to do near the dock, and you need buses and ferries for all the excursions, and the fleets were trashed. Not sure how the replacement of those assets is coming along; ferries aren't like cars where you can just call for a delivery of in-stock models, after all.

Our cruise is the second Fantasy sailing in April so I will not be surprised if we get re-routed. Bummer, because none of the St. Maarten excursions are for children under 10. Our booking window opens tonight actually, so I'll book our Tortola excursion as planned and hope for the best!

I'm going to SXM in March, and there are excursions that can be done with younger children offered on our sailing.

Oh really?? When I searched for excursions on the main Disney Cruise site, I don't see them...maybe they are only visible when you book them? Either way, I'm glad to hear this!! I still hope we get to go to Tortola, but I'm much happier about St. Maarten knowing we don't have to exclude both our kids.

I find that when an excursion is available for you to book, it will ask who is going. If someone isn't eligible, their name will be grayed out.

Bernards Tours is a non-DCL option with younger children. The Under Two Flags and some of the beach excursions work with young children as well. It is pretty typical of the EC itineraries that beaches are the main thing for the littles.

The dolphin company has moved the dolphins to other locations. They are not taking any reservations for May, and they said they were closed.

DCL is reserving the excursions, but they said they have no idea if anything will be available.

I did, just in case we went there. Their dolphin swims are also closed.

Check with the company directly. Many times their restrictions are much less than DCLs.
