Looking for suggestions on favorite excursions in Tortola. This is a new port for us and a lot of the excursions listed sound so similar from their description that I thought first-hand experience might help.

Any suggestions or recommendations on what or what not to do?

You can not go wrong going to the Baths....one word ....awesome!

I am interested in this post also - I would love to do the Baths, but we have a three year old, who will be too young for the excursion. A few weeks ago there was something listed for a private villa (no pricing), and now it is gone. I was interested in that.

That private villa is up but is 6 or 7 thousand dollars.

You can still go there on your own. That's what we are planning on with our 4 y.o.

Did you do any research about getting to the Baths with your child? Have recommendations?

I'm traveling with my husband, parents and my child who will be almost two years old. I really want to visit the Baths but I'm just not sure if 1) logistically we can pull it off with another boating company like Speedys and 2) if I'm just crazy because my kid is so young. We'll have four adults to 1 kid... so, I don't know. I'm so torn.

We are booked on DCL to visit Tortola in 2016, too and I am following this thread. We don't normally do excursions due to cost but I am willing to splurge to visit the Baths. We will have a precocious 5yo with us so I will need to plan carefully!

I have two boys ages 4 and 6 years. We booked the fat virgin baths tour through ShoreFox. I chose my cruise based on going to Tortola and was very disappointed to see that Disney Cruise didn't offer an excursion to the Baths for kids under 5. In fact am a bit shocked at how few excursions the line has in general at any of our points for kids under five. Very disappointed!

Agreed. I've been on Disney cruises before but never with a child, so I didn't notice until now. It won't deter me from taking a Disney cruise at all but still...

I am also interested in the topic. My family and I will be there in April with my niece who will be 5.

If DCL won't let you take a child under 5 you can do it on your own. We were on the NCL Getaway and their ship excursion let folks take kids under 5. Our cabin "neighbors" had 3 kids, the youngest was 13 months. The dad carried her in a body carrier. I would think you could get the ferry schedule and take it on your own. Then take a safari bus once on Virgin Gorda to the Baths and then reverse the process to get back to Tortola. We booked through the cruise ship since we were only in port for a limited time.

Our youngest will be 4 so I figured it's fine. It didn't sound like it is anything that would be physically difficult, just the pain of setting things up ourselves to get there

We booked a beach day on the west end because my girls 4-7 are too young for Baths excursion, beaches are free but we booked hotel so we can use their shower facilities and have relief from the heat. Also gonna see if we can do lunch at Soper's Hole (about a mile from our hotel).

What hotel is this?

We're staying at Ft. Recovery Villas and requested early check in. I'm planning on putting on a trip report and tripadvisor review but so far the folks at the hotel have been accomodating. http://fortrecoverytortola.com/

Long Bay Beach Club is supposed to be very luxurious as well, that was our second choice and Sugar Mill is rated high as well. Ft. Recovery is more "rustic" from what I can tell but I think that is the theme of the island and I didn't want to go to the other side of the island because of all of the windy roads... here's hoping the cab to Ft. Recovery is ok.

if you want to do a beach day, almost all beaches are free and many hotels will let you rent chairs for $5

Are you booking a day rate? Or a full nights stay? We're not going until fall '16, we'd like to try the baths, but incase there is no avail this sounds like a good idea. I imagine baths will fill quickly! In general how far is the cab ride? I look forward to your report!
