Tortola excursions or not

We booked the island drive and beach break excursion for Tortola, which includes a stopoff at a place that seems a little woodsy by the images I've googled. I'm getting some cold feet bringing my 18 month old dd, given the Zika scare (effects on a developing brain are still unknown...). Problem is, all the other excursions are either not toddler-friendly or are super expensive. Thoughts on whether it's worth it to ditch an excursion and instead just roam a little around the Tortola port, and enjoy the empty ship? Or will I resent missing the sights of Tortola?

We just got back yesterday and we originally had the excursion booked through Disney but cancelled. Instead we walked off the ship and at the end of the walkway there were tours available. $20 for a 2 hour island tour with 20-30 minutes at the beach or $25 for a 3 hour tour with an hour at the beach. They also offered the 2 hour tour and if you wanted to stay longer at the beach it was an $8 taxi ride back. We thought it was nice tour, they went through town and the driver gave TONS of info about it. We did the 3 hour tour. They do wait for the entire open air safari to fill up so we waited about 30-45 minutes for our whole bus to fill. There were maybe 5 buses for the tours. Also getting off the ship they had HUGE containers of insect repellent lotion for every one (it had no smell and wasn't sticky in my opinion). We didn't notice any mosquitos or bugs but did see a gigantic swarm of bees or hornets at one point.
