I am needing some hotel info on Tortola BVI. Has anybody stayed there. I am needing a hotel for only 2 nights this spring. Any info would be GREAT!!!

Thanks

DH and I just returned from the BVI and let me tell you, it was AWESOME!! It completely exceeded our expectations. Unfortunately, I really don't have any hotel suggestions for you because we were sailing on my in-laws boat (they own though the Moorings) and only stayed on land one night (at the Moorings hotel, which was nice)....if you have any questions about BVI in general, I will try to help....you will LOVE it....:)

I've been there a couple of times, but spent my nights on a sailboat. Here is a link to a great forum for BVI travel with alot of knowledgable people posting. I loved it there.

That's a nice site, Duckbarn. We went to the BVIs once before, and have been talking about going back. If we get serious, I'll be sure to review that site before I make a decision.

We stayed on Virgin Gorda when we went there, so I can't give specific help. But I know you'll love it. It's really beautiful, and really laid back, the kind of Caribbean that you see in pictures. It doesn't have the mega-development that has messed up the USVIs.

You are so right....the atmosphere is so relaxed...it's a complete escape.....we sailed to Virgin Gorda one day and did the Baths....all I can say is Wow...we loved them of course....we were out at a bar with friends last weekend and DH tried to order a Painkiller and the bartender looked at him suspiciously....then we realized we were home and that's a BVI drink...they are so yummy though :)

kpm--I was out to dinner last weekend with my family, at the British Beer Company (small chain here in MA, on the Cape, and one in Pembroke MA) and they served Pusser's, and had Painkillers RIGHT ON THE MENU!!!!!!!!!

OP--sorry for the hijack.

I too, have sailed the BVI, and stayed at the Bitter End on Virgin Gorda, but don't know a ton about hotels on Tortola. I would check out the site that duckbarn posted. (I'm off to check it now.....)

KPM76 if you like painkillers, you may like this recipe for Painkiller Cake. www.bvipirate.com is also a great web site with great photos and info on the BVI's. While staying in Tortola, MinnieFan4ever if you can, try getting over to Cane Garden Bay to see Quito Rymer perform. Very enjoyable.

Duckbarn- Thanks for the website, I will check it out.

We are renting a boat in Tortola for a week and are going down 2 nights early just to get into the "island mode". There will be 2 other couples with us and we are just looking for a nice and CLEAN place to hang our hats until we get on the boat.

- Thanks for the info everyone. I am even more excited now!!! :teeth:

debster812 - that's AWESOME...might be worth it for us to make a trip to a BBC...LOL

Duckbarn - thank you so much for that recipe!! I am going to make this for DH's birthday next month....

MinnieFan4ever - if you are chartering a Moorings boat, we stayed at Mariner Inn which is literally a few steps from the docks. It was really convenient, had a nice pool, restaurant and bar...nothing too fancy but exactly what we needed. Hope this helps....enjoy your trip...I'm jealous :)

Thanks everyone, we found a place to stay called Village Cay Hotel and Marina.

Okay, now for another question. Is there anything we "must" back or buy when we get there. I know about bug spray, sunscreen, Pepto anything else out of the ordinary? Is there something you wish you would have brought?
