Toronto to LA

We are planning to take our family to Disneyland next year. Anyone flown from Toronto to LA? We haven't been in 15 years. Do you have any tips on good prices, airlines, when to book etc? Thanks!

Going in 2 weeks

I booked with southwest out of Buffalo.
Direct flights available.
I packaged it with a car for less than TO would have cost me. I could have also added hotels, but we are doing a split stay ( Hollywood area and Disneylad)

Southwest flies to LAX direct from Buffalo? No stops? I didn't think there were any direct flights from Buffalo to LAX with any airline.

I've been watching for November flights and am not seeing the direct prices from Toronto to be much different from those one stop prices from Buffalo.

Not sure where you are, but it's cheaper to fly out of Detroit. I looked up flights to LA out of Detroit for August and it was just over $200 return, not all weeks were that cheap, but still much cheaper than Buffalo or Toronto!

We're situated so that all three airports are about the same driving distance for us!

I'm paying $600 return Quebec City (via Toronto) to lax on westjet in mid July. Last summer I did it for even less on air canada

Southwest flies to LAX direct from Buffalo? No stops? I didn't think there were any direct flights from Buffalo to LAX with any airline.

I've been watching for November flights and am not seeing the direct prices from Toronto to be much different from those one stop prices from Buffalo.

I'd like to know this too. I couldn't find any direct flights from Buffalo to LAX. Detroit is a 4.5 hour drive for us, so unless I can work an extra night in for a Tigers game...it's out for us.

We are flying Buffalo to LAX on Sunday on Southwest. There were no non-stop flights available but I was able to find a morning flight that has a stop in Chicago (we do not change planes). Coming home we have a 1.5 hour stopover in Phoenix. Our flights to LAX were $550 for 2 return - prices out of Toronto (although non-stop) were $1,200 for the same dates.

We flew Toronto to LA last August, and then San Francisco to Toronto on the return leg. We flew on Air Canada and paid $1,050 for two people return. I just set up an alert on Air Canada, as well as Expedia so I would be notified of a price drop. That way, I was sure to get the best rate possible.

We flew Buffalo to LAX last August, switching planes in Detroit. The funny thing was, the price was cheaper with the one stop from Buffalo to Detroit to LAX than taking the same flight number direct from Detroit to LAX. Saved us a long drive from Toronto to Detroit and saved money too.

I thought they had one on the Saturday. It was durning the Vegas deal offer, so maybe it was a connection to Vegas i was looking at

We are going over both the Canadain and US May holidays, that is why the price is higher for us.

remember my $ 1200 also includes a rental car and unlimited mileage for the same price as Toronto would have cost

Wow...that would be an awesome price. That's less than I paid to fly to Orlando last month.

We flew Delta last november. We did have 1 stop for an hour in Minnesota but only paid $273 a person rd trip. We bought right through Delta 4 months in advance. Have you looked at SNA John Wayne Airport ? I found flights cheaper and closer to Disneyland.

Where were you flying from and was that price into LAX or into SNA?

We flew Detroit to SNA. I know everybody likes non stop but really I did not mind stopping in Minnesota and it was a much needed leg break for my 14 year old and 6 year old. Long enough to switch planes and grab a bite to eat and stretch.

It was amazing. I will never fly into LAX . SNA is so small and quiet.

We flew Pearson to LAX in December. The only direct options out of Toronto or Buffalo was Air Canada through Toronto. In hindsight it was a horrible experience (we'll never fly AC agan as a result) and would've gladly accepted a 2 hour layover along the way to not have to give them our business.

We've never had a bad experience either and we fly AC all the time.

Because it was a long flight, we booked "extra leg room" seats. Air Canada changed our plane type four different times and didn't notify us even once. Each time, we had to catch the change ourselves and call in to get our seats changed back to the class we had already booked (and paid extra for). We spent over 3 hours on the phone with them in total in the months leading up to the flight. Their "customer service" department (and I use that term loosely) offered us no sympathy or consideration. We'd been loyal AC customers up until this point, choosing to fly with them multiple times to WDW even though it would be cheaper to fly out of Buffalo, but no more.

Don't rule it out; especially if it's cheaper. For instance, both Westjet and Air Canada fly into their own terminal there and access to ground transportation is super-easy. Same for outbound - they drop you off right at the airline's own departure terminal. It all seems much more overwhelming than it really is. If you're Disney-bound I highly recommend the Disneyland Express for transfers, if you need them and car rentals are cheaper from LAX than SNA.
