Toronto Star Front Page Article - Epcot Canada

Pretty exciting article! I can't wait to see the new film when I visit EPCOT in January!

Oooh I just caught the old one in Feb and will catch the new one in April.

I'd been avoiding the Canada pavilion due to the embarrassing movie. Now I can be proud to go!

Why do you all feel the old movie was embarrassing? As an American, I always enjoyed it. It was obviously a bit stale though.

Just saw it the other day and I was also impressed. Thank goodness the other film is gone. Couldn't stand anymore "ehs" and weird accents.

It really didn't portray Canada as it really is - there's alot more to Canada then they showed!

Where to begin....
I only viewed the film for the first time in 2005 and beyond the fact that it's about 25 years out of date stereotypes abound of a country buried in snow and the RCMP scampering about on horses still (they rarely scamper and most wouldn't be able to ride a horse). I've never been to the Calgary stampede, or fly fished or skated the Rideau canal nor have the majority of Canadians. Gasp... I can't even skate.. and I don't ski.. what kind of canadian am I? Yes some of us do use "eh" more liberally then we should in coversation (not me of course ... never crossed my lips ...;) ), but it's not like we all say it all the time. When I lived in the US often when I met a new person who learned I was Canadian the 1st thing they said was "oh your from Canada Eh?". After 6 years this became a little sad that this is recognized as our signature expression :sad2:. Unfortunately the film reinforced this. I guess a comparison might be that foreigners assume all Texans say "ya'll and wear Stetson's and then extrapolating this to the rest of America, and then assume that everyone from the USA is a cowboy (as I'm sure does happen occasionally when you travel ouside North America). But for WDW to have so many visitors view this old film and think it's is a true representaion of Canada and Canadians is embarrasing, and sad. I say yay to a new film and I can't wait too see it next year.

Ok you have crossed the line eh!:lmao: :cool1: I fly fish, go stampedeing every year, am a pretty bad skier but a skier non the less and yup even been to the Rideau Canal during the summer eh! If you are made a honorary citizen of Calgary you are "white hatted" and given the almighty white cowboy hat eh! Dignitaries from all over the world have one collecting dust in their offices eh! I used to figure skate at a professional level and the Musical Ride is very much alive and well eh! My Dad lives by Waterton National Park and they received 25 cm of snow the other night eh! I was born in Calgary but spent my childhood living in the National Parks as my Dad was a Federal Park Ranger eh! Believe me stereotypes are alive and well out west eh!.....:rotfl2:

Oh Dear God... all we need is the above spoken in a French Canadian accent and there you have the essence of what it is to be truly Canadian.. HA !:rotfl: Thanks

I guess I will now only stick to the giftshop and LeCellier as I loved the old film and do not even want to see the new one.

This is great news ... considering how many people see this film each day it is nice to hear it is updated and more represented. The old one was "old" and hardly representative of our diverse Country.

Can't wait to see it!

We've never seen the old film and just saw the new one last week for the first time. It was pretty good.... we were just sad to see that Manitoba and Saskatchewan were virtually ignored.

this came up in the Wpg Free Press recently..major factor is that if a province wanted to participate in the film-they had to have the $$$$ to do so....

I always enjoyed it. But I'm not Canadian! :lmao:

Besides it's the only place in Florida I can get Moosehead!
