We leave for DW on April 11 and have to overnight in Toronto. I will need a hotel with a shuttle to the airport. Never been there before either. Wondering what the closest hotels to the airport and if there are any discounts for them.
Can't wait to go to DW - this is our first big family vacation.
thanks
BW

Not sure about discounts, but we had good luck staying at the Gateway Sheraton a couple of years ago. It is right at Terminal 2 I believe.

If you don't mind putting your credit card on line, try expedia.ca. They usually have very good deals. However, the best time to book is about a week or two away from your date. A friend of mine overnighted in TO this past weekend, she booked her hotel on expedia on Friday. She ended up with the Wyndham Place for $80. Great rate for a four star hotel. There are alot of hotels near the airport. Some have free shuttles but others have a charge. Just something to watch for.

Have a great trip.

Last April, we booked a park n fly at the Marriott for $125-3 mins from airport-free shuttle-free parking for 14 days. (Dixon Rd.)

This time CAA booked Holiday Inn Select-same thing $119 2 mins from airport free shuttle and parking for 15 days. (Dixon Rd).

We had the Quality Inn 2 years ago-free parking and shuttle but it was 20 mins from the airport-too far when you have to be at the airport before 5:00 am. It was $107

Thanks disney2003 and mom_rules. I will be checking out both of these.

Just got back fron Punta Cana and stayed the Friday night before our flight (7:15 am departure) at the Holdiay Inn Select for $95. a night that included free parking for the week. Shuttles run eery 15 minues from 4am. Arrived in the the lobby arround 4:20 and there was arround 100 people in the lobby waiting for the shuttle (bus only holds arrond 20). Ended up taking a taxi to the airport. No problem with the shuttle pack to the airport this evening (arround 7:00pm)

Welcome back from Punta Cana, Mike. Did you have a good trip? Guess you didn't miss this weather!

I just booked a place called the Wyndham Bristol Place for $99 a night. They said it's about 5 minutes from the Terminal. I'll remember to leave more time for the shuttle - thanks CdnDisneyNut for that information.

Bevwells - Where did you get the rate of $99 for Whyndham. We are going at the end of April and that is alot better than the $200 I've been quoted.

thanks,
rhonda

I thought the Marriott at $125 during off season in October was good-and the Holiday Inn Easter Weekend for $119 !!

But the Wyndham Bristol for $99-Awesome-hats off to you.

(When are you going again?)

I'm staying at the Wyndham Bristol Hotel on April 11 (Easter Sunday). I got that price from a flyer from Legrow's Travel. Here is a toll free number for them if you want to get that rate: 1-888-710-7327 (very reputable travel agency). The flyer said rates are available until May 31. I'm not sure what date you have to book it by, but the flyer just came out this week. Hopefully, this info will help you too, Rhonda.

I just booked the Marriott (Dixon Rd) for 119.00 for a Sat. the 21st. It includes up to 14 nts of free parking, mostly underground which is nice when you arrive home not knowing if you've had a lot of snow and the car will be SOOOO cold (I've got two little ones). We aren't arriving back to TO until 10 at night, so we also are at the Marriott again for 109, as there wasn't parking needed.

KerriMc-you'll love the Marriott. So convenient. The Park 'n fly rooms are nothing special but the hotel itself is lovely. Within walking distance of coffee shops and restaurants. Great Gym and indoor pool. The shuttle picks up first at the Marriott, then two others (I think one other first-can't remember which and Holiday Inn Select) then on to the airport. Pickup at the airport was great-they drop off at the Marriott first. The only thing I didn't like was the pickup area at the airport. You cross a couple of lanes of traffic and wait on a paved median. Seemed a tad dangerous to me and my kids were 16 and 18-not alot of room on there-please watch your children. Hopefully they've changed this-we will be taking that shuttle to and from the Holiday Inn Select in early April.

As an American who frequently visits Toronto, I can say that the best way to make the Toronto Airport hotel experience a great part of your vacation is to stay at either the Airport Marriott or the Sheraton in Terminal 3 with the Wyndham Bristol Place rated a distant 3rd by me.

These hotels are the two most comfortable (and $$$) on the Airport Strip...BUT the good news is that by staying on a Friday or Saturday nite you'll pay less than half the weekday rates. Example: corporate rate at Airport Marriott Sun-Thu is $249 Cdn, but wknd rates are around $119 Cdn.

The Marriott in particular is my favorite for it's great breakfast buffet (ask for the "Two for Brkfst" rate on the wknd), great indoor pool, wonderfully service-oriented staff who really care, and a very comfy feel to all parts of the hotel...and you earn Marriott Reward points.

Many of the other hotels on the Airport Strip seem to have a stark, "cold" feel to them (e.g Hilton, Holiday Inn, Radisson Suites, Regal Constellation, Quality Suites....I wouldn't bother with). I was shocked last year when I stayed at the Radisson Suites and was charged for a shuttle bus ride to/from the airport....I am a very seasoned traveller and no where else in North America have I ever experienced this!

Have a great trip!

Hi, We are staying at the Bristol on the 25th of April. We really enjoy this hotel and always stay there on business. There is a Parott named KoKo in the lobby over by the bar and the kids love to go visit him every trip. We find the staff to be excellent and always nice to the kids.

Last year en route to Florida, we stayed there. However, when we took the shuttle the seatbelts were unavailable and I was upset as we were travelling with the kids using booster seats. I wrote this on a comment card, and received a personal phone call when I got home saying the sitution had been remedied. I was really pleased. And they were available the next time we were there.

We usually try and request the 3rd floor since that is where the pool is located.

Nice to see another Newoundlander on the Boards!!

Thanks Susan E
We will request the third floor - I didn't realize that is where the pool is. The kids will for sure want to use it. We will also be looking for the parrot.
Thanks for the tips :D
Nice to see another Newf on the boads too. Wouldn't it be nice to be down South now - with all this snow and its' sooo cold. We are counting down the days now.
