Being that I live just outside of Columbus, we've had that too. Massive hail storm and managed to get pics of some of the hail. Some were up to 1" long. It is still thundering and lightening now! Still raining and it was flooding before my DH even got home
Severe thunderstorms this evening, but we are sort of not a tornado prone area (lots of hills). Even when one touches down, it doesn't usually travel very far.
My best friend calls me to say she was on her way to dance and the sirens were going off. Of course does she consider going back home...nope!!! Turns out the bad part of the storm was south of her (north of me) so she really wasn't in any danger. My DS12 wasn't happy about the sirens either, nor was our new puppy!! I think the worst is past now though other then just regular storms. My DH was happy though. He didn't have to mow any grass!!
We didn't have tornado warnings but my older labrador retriver took refuge in the bathtub during the storms here in central Pennsylvania.
Glad to here that everyone is safe tonight.
Here in central indiana we had some rumbles of thunder and its been pouring but it was a lot better than what they were predicting
We had some NASTY storms roll through here tuesday morning so I am glad that didn't happen again
We had those storms Tuesday PM. For what ever reason our county sets off the sirens when there is a Severe Thunderstorm Warning anywhere in the county. There were storms north of us, we had NOTHING, yet the sirens woke me up anyway. It is really a dumb system this county has. They have gone off in our town with blue, cloudless skies, but 30 miles south of us is getting bad weather. Dumb, it basically makes you ignore them so if there ever were a tornado, I think a lot of people would get hurt.
That does sound like a rather silly system there, golfgal. I know ours only go off during a tornado warning. That is it! I've heard them only twice this year though. Last night's was horrid. I live on the west side of the city, and we got nailed with the hail and wind... only after the worst of the storm passed for us, did we have the warning sirens go off. Me thinks our weather watchers didn't expect it to be that bad last night
Exactly, most people can figure out without sirens that it is thundering and lightning out and the weather is bad. We don't always know if a tornado has been spotted. THAT is when I want a siren.
