OK, here's the cast of characters:

Me
DH
DS (his first trip!)
My mom
My dad
My best friend (MAYBE)

If my best friend goes, we are thinking of renting DVC points and staying in a 2 bedroom villa in OKW or BCV.

If my best friend does NOT go, we want to stay at ASMo. (We're trying to keep costs down and if B.F. goes, we divide the cost of OKW by three...)

Now ASMo historically does not accept codes or AP rates, right? UGH! That's my first choice for the All Stars. I've stayed at ASMu, and it was ok, but our room location was terrible! I also want Movies b/c I think our son will really enjoy a larger-than-life Buzz Lightyear more than giant maracas.

Now, if ASMo does not offer discounts, we'd pay $77 per night before taxes 'cause we're going in value season. So do we:

a. pay rack rate for ASMo
b. wait for a code or AP rate for a moderate
c. rent points from a DVC member anyway? This would be if my B.F. does not join us. if she does, we will most likely rent points.

I'm soooooo confused.........I wish ASMo took codes/AP rates. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks.......

Some problems that you might want to think about.

If you want to rent points, you need to make a request with plenty of time for the owner to make the reservation. If you wait too late, you may be out of luck. Once you make a reservation, you won't be able to back out any sooner than 31 days before; otherwise the owner gets stuck with points that they can only make a reservation 30 days out (and before their points expire). They can't bank their points any more. Or you are just out of luck. Out the cash and no vacation.

If you do rent a two bedroom unit, where will your friend sleep? If you and hubby get the master bedroom with the son, and mother and dad get the other, that leaves the fold out bed in the living room for the friend. If friend pays a third of the cost, she/he's getting ripped off in my opinion. I'd consider asking her/him to pay 1/5 at the most. You have 5 adults in this situation.

Sorry, but I don't know anything about the All Stars.

Why don't you just go ahead and book 2 rooms at All Star Movies and then if a code comes out change your reservations to a moderate? ;)
