Torn between October and November

We've been in mid-November and love it, but it was a bit more crowded than it had been in previous years. We are now considering one of the last two weeks in October. I'd love to hear from any folks who have been at both (or either) times of year. Which would you recommend, crowd-wise? Is Halloween more crowded than the 3rd week of October? I don't have preference about free dining or other discounts--I just want lower crowds (hard to find, I know, these days).

Thanks!

Last week of Oct that includes Halloween is little less busy than the rest of October and similar crowd wise to mid November (except weekend before Veterans Day which is busier). 3rd week of October is busier than mid Nov with more school fall breaks, but weather is warmer if you are pool people.

For the past 2 years, DH and I went the last few days of Oct. thru the first few days of Nov. No problem with the crowds then. I don't like heavy crowds. We do the F&W at Epcot and avoid MK on Oct. 31st. Planning on this stragety this fall again!

With those October dates, keep in mind that MNSHHP will mean that the MK will close to non-partygoers at 7PM about 3 days a week. If you are not going to the MNSSHP, that might be a deterrent to you because you would need to plan your park days accordingly, if you like MNSHHP, that might be a bonus.

I was there Oct 18 to 24 last year, crowds were not bad. I always do MK on MNSSHP days and then park hop in the evening, mostly to Epcot for Food & Wine.

We went last year the last week in October, left to come home the day after Halloween. We had a fabulous trip, perfect weather and low crowds.

We've done both..halloween 2014,free dining was nice, crowds were lower than easter week but seemed higher then 1st week of November, there are so many Halloween parties it limits park hours for MK..which to me made the crowd levels seem higher on MK days.
We did first week of november 2012..no free dining, f&w was still going on, crowds seemed lower or better distributed from decreased parties, park hours were better, weather was pretty equal. We saw the turn over from halloween to Christmas. We did not see as much holiday decor as a had hoped so if that's your goal go later in Nov. I'm starting to think the days of "low crowds" are in the past..

Crowd-wise won't be much different, IMO. Late October is popular due to Food & Wine and MNSSHP. The only edge late October would have is the higher chance for better weather. We were there the week before Thanksgiving this past year and it was COLD. No pool time, highs in the 60s. Going forward, we will stick to April or October and battle potentially higher crowds for the better chance of warmer weather.
