Torn between Deluxe without dining or value with dining?

What is the Disney Visa dollars?? I saw someone else mention that on another thread??

I'd pick deluxe with no dining plan. You can pick and choose some of your favorite spots to still go to eat, but maybe not have a big breakfast every day.

Color me confused :confused3 , but couldn't you stay deluxe and get the free dining? It's in effect for your dates. I just changed my dates to arrive Oct. 4 and we're getting free dining through Oct. 12. Saved me $500 plus 2 extra nights at Yacht Club.
I have 3 adults (me DH and DD) :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsgirl:
and two juniors (17yo Twins) :earsgirl: :earsboy:
for 8 nights at Yacht Club for $4200 with free dining.

I just did the dining plan at Disney last month. While it was an ok plan, I won't use it again (unless it's free).

I would do the Deluxe hotels. Me and dh wandered around some deluxe hotels on this trip and while we love pofq, I would stay at a deluxe in a heart beat if I had the funds.

Which would you choose? Right now we are booked value with dining. Now I am 2nd guessing myself. I would really perfer a deluxe hotel and eat less..... However, one of my favorite things about Disney is the food....

I've only stayed deluxe in the past and I guess I am just nervous about POP.

You're going October 1??? Then you qualify for the free dining - at least up to Oct.4. So go change to Deluxe.

Also, did you figure out what you generally spend a day on food?? I think the plan is a great savings.

I know everyone's financial situation is different from everyone elses, but I was stunned when I saw the price of this package! I would love to stay at the Yacht club also, but when you compare this package price with our package price, you can see why I say shocked :earseek:
We got a 10 day stay at POP with MYW 10 day ticket & free dining for $1350.00 (party of 4 2 adults and 2 kids 4 & 8). That is nearly $3000.00 LESS than the shorter stay @ Yacht club.

I am not rich, nor disadvantaged, but I could never justify spending nearly 3X as much for a shorter stay at a "deluxe" hotel.

My opinion would always be, stay longer, do more, save more and enjoy more. I have only ever stayed at Deluxe resorts prior to this stay, and am a little nervous. But no matter what, my stay will be magical (and affordable) :cool1:

Just my opinion. Have a good time whatever you decide.

We would have to rent two rooms to stay at a value and I like the monorail and the extras that come with the deluxe so we go for shorter times and stay at the Poly...that is what we prefer...

We are trying to make the same decision right now. Mod with meal plan or keep our deluxe reservation. We are going in November and will be watching for codes for the deluxes. DH is refusing to do a value resort this year after we stayed at POP. :confused3

If you really read my post you would see that we have 3 adults and 2 juniors, not exactly the same thing as your 2 adults and 2 children. The third adult is $28.00 per day alone. Two rooms at POP would cost me near as much as I'm paying at Yacht Club. My husband travels for his job all the time and after staying in many hotels, he enjoys a nicer setting for his vacation. I stayed at values when my daughter had cheerleading competitions at Disney and it's not my cup of tea. But to each his own. If I would book 2 rooms at moderate, it would cost me what I'm paying at Yacht Club. Our room is $297nt. plus taxes, 5-6day MYW premium tickets and free dining.

Didn't know I would have to get the fire extinguisher out :) To each his own is correct. I didn't mean to imply you paid too much for your trip, my reply was to state that it is way too much for our family. You don't have to justify yourself to anyone, nor do I, and this was not my intent. At the beginning of my post I specifically stated each family has their own financial comfort zone, the cost of your package is way out of mine..that was the purpose of my reply. So if you "really read my post", you would understand where I was coming from. Anyway, to each their own.

We've always stayed at Deluxe but one year we arrived early and the only room we could get for the two nights was at All Stars.

If my option was to not go at all or stay at All Stars, I would go. If my option was to stay at All Stars and have Food Plan, or stay at Deluxe with no Food Plan I would stay at Deluxe in a heart beat.

I know some people who stay at All Stars and love it. It just wasn't for us.
