Torchwood Series 1 Discussion Thread

I watched it today, and I can say that this is the second time where I have felt disapointed with Torchwood. It was all rather scary for me (I don't say that often while watching torchie, although the Weevile did creep me out when it killed that person in episode one).

Absolutely didn't like the really weird bloke at the begining. You know which one I mean... It was just too errie and it rather spooked me out.. Plus the Globin like faires?? No, sorry too much..

:scared1:

Aww, Matt :grouphug: I am with you - I have been trying not to look out of the corner of my eye since I got up this morning! I thought I was going to be alone on this one! I did enjoy it, but both me and my DH thought it ended a bit abruptly.

Also, I couldn't work out why the little girl wanted Estelle killed? How did she even know about her? If anyone picked up something I missed, please let me know.

Welcome back, Emperor Dalek, nice to see you again. Dalek episodes sound great.

Thanks, Master, for letting us know about John Barrowman being on Jonathan Ross, really enjoyed watching him, and wouldn't have seen it otherwise.

I think that was to do with how the Faires create "mischef". Jack did mention that is how they operate. Unlucky I suppose..

Could also be that she is a fairy fanatic and they got really annoyed with her.. :rotfl:

In the previous week's episode Gwen asked Captain Jack if he'd ever loved someone. I think this was just written in to allow Captain Jack to explain who he'd loved and also open up to Gwen a little of his mystery. I don't think it had anything to do with Sunday's story.

I think if I were Gwen I'd be asking, "How did you manage to travel through time then?". She just seemed to accept his story.

Thanks for your replies, guys, I think elements of both make sense. Yes, I wondered why Gwen didn't say anything about him travelling in time. I know she knows he can't die, but surely she would question the fact that he hasn't aged either?! I am confusing myself now, so am going to stop!

I think Gwen is used to far too much now.. Jack could be a 2 headed hydra in diguse and she'd be all "Yeah, Sure.." :teeth:

It's being repeated again tonight for those who missed it. I won't watch it myself, having a) not got much sleep last night and so needing to go to bed early and b) already seen it. :)

I'll be watching the Footy.

A bit like Torchwood really. Loads of people running around in a panic, not really knowing what they are doing, culminating in a weak ending. :lmao:

To let you guys know, they are going to do a Doctor Who segment for CIN. Not the same thing as last year, as it has Freema as the assistant for the first time.

I'll be watching! :thumbsup2

Matt, this episode is pretty gruesome - be prepared to turn away at times!

I just watched it, and I'd like to say the following..

I have seen a lot in my 2 ish years of being a Doctor Who fan. I've seen Daleks invade earth several times over. I've seen Cybermen march and destroy humans and sometimes even upgrade them. I even got through the Auton episode from 1970 with the freaky doll that came to life and murdered people! (which also got a lot of bad publicity as a result). And throughout all of it I have watched it with open arms. Not once did I go behind the sofa.

In this episode however, I think I should have. It was so gruesome I was semi-wimping afterwards! Even now I feel sick; thank goodness I didn't get my eatums or I probably would of thrown up! Last weeks episode was also scary but waaaaaaaaay less. If the next one is scary then I am sorry I am just going to have to ditch it until the finale (which sadly I'll have to watch ~ there is bound to be some continuity thing going on).

You'll permit me then to say the following. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE - Pant Pant - EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEKKKKK!! :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

Mikki, my only regret is that I didn't read your post. That probably would of put me off it until another day..

My 13 DD just watched this one over dinner. I asked her what she thought of it. She gave a typical teenage grunt and said, "It was OK I s'pose, could I have another slice of meat, please?". "Oh, and can you take me to guides now".

Matt, we watched the confidential (or whatever they call it for Torchwood) this morning and they said that this was the most gruesome episode of the series - so nothing should be worse than this.

I did try to give you some warning - sorry you didn't see my post in time :badpc:

I have been following the posts from you guys and have therefore so far chickened out of watching this. I am with Matt in that I don't like scary stuff, so I can't promise I will be watching this at all. Hope you feel happier soon, Master :grouphug: try not to dwell on it.

As I mentioned on another thread, John Barrowman is on Never Mind the Buzzcocks tonight. :)
