Torchwood Series 1 Discussion Thread

The opening episodes of Doctor Who spin-off Torchwood drew the largest digital channel audience for a non-sport programme, says the BBC.
The 2100 BST episode had 2.4 million viewers and a 12.7% audience share, the 2145 BST one had 2.3 million (13.8%).

The first two instalments of the series, starring John Barrowman as Captain Jack Harkness, also attracted BBC Three's largest ever audience.

Let's hope it keeps up! :cheer2:

Thought it was fantastic, of course living in Cardiff, it was great picking out all the sights I normally see everyday, but I know Im bias, hoping I would catch me in the background somewhere :goodvibes

However today was great fun waking past the fountain tube down the bay that Torchwood is supposed to be under and seeing all the kids trying to fathom out which stone is the one that moves up and down :rotfl2: :thumbsup2

It's none of them; just look for a big hole and you've found it.. :lmao:

Glad to see you have an advantage over us; if something alien happens you're bound to know where it is.. ;)

I really enjoyed it, it far exceeded my expectations. I have only watched the first one so far, keeping the second one a bit longer so the wait for the next one isn't too long! Captain Jack was excellent as always, I thought it was scary and realistic and also funny in places. I really liked the part about Captain Jack needing a special kind of doctor.

Should kids have been watching that second episode? :confused3

Totally agree with you Maz! I wondering why they were allowed to stay up that late; let alone watch that episode.. :confused3

OK, so we caved and watched the second episode last night. I thought it was brilliant, if a little disturbing.

Just to remind you guys, the repeat is on tonight.

Happy Torchwood! :)

YAY - the first 2 were great when I finally got to see them!

I thought last nights episode was the best one so far. Terrifying. It reminds me of when X Files was good. I knew that was one gadget that was going to get locked up in the archives.

Next week's cyber episode looks like it's going to be good too.

Didn't get to see it last night as it was on too late for me, so I hope to watch it today or tommorrow. :)

Couldn't stop myself reading some of Leela's post though.. Nice to see that next weekends one is the Cybers episode. :woohoo:

I had a weird dream the night before last about Cybers and Torchwood; some of my family, one of my friends and Owen from Torchwood went investigating a small building. Owen went mad, started throwing chairs everywhere ( :confused3 ) then injected me with something. Next thing I knew I was a Cyberman for some reason!!! Whilst it sounds cool for some reason I was really sad being a Cyber. My only regret is that I woke up before I got to destory anyone!! :rotfl:

I must be thinking about it too much!

Aww, Matt, don't worry, we know you are far too nice to be a cyber :grouphug:

Cheers Leela. :) Still wished I got to do some "DELETE"-ing though.. :teeth:

Really bad news for me guys.. My recorded of torchwood was cut last night due to power failure, so I don't have the whole episode. In fact, only 11 mins got recorded, so I thought I might as well DELETE it and not bother at all.. (See, got to do some DELETE-ing after all! :goodvibes ).

Anyway, I looked it up on the Sky, and the next showing is 10.30pm BBC Three tommorrow. Since it's going to be really late for me, and since it's Halloween and I am going to be watching Halloween TV most of the night I thought I might as well not bother at all and watch the Wednesday Showing. At least I can stay up to watch the whole thing. :)

I don't know what device your talking about Leela, but I probably have to agree with you!. (Looked up the rest of Leela's post; how desprate am I? :lmao: ).

Don't worry, Matt, I don't think I gave too much away in my post. At least if you don't watch until Wednesday it won't be as long until the next one. I will look forward to hearing your thoughts.

I finally got to post now. :)

I liked that episode, very hard hitting. Espicially the end, that gave me a shock! That was well set up; after it calms down after Owen gives up you think it's all over.

I just wonder what will happen to that boy? He said he saw his own death so perhaps he is back for another episode? Or maybe their will be reaper involvement due to them changing the future?? Or a typo? Stop me if I guess it! ;)

I can now definitely agree that was one for the vault! ::yes::

I wondered whether the boy saw one possible future, and Gwen saw another, but the one Gwen saw came true - meaning that the boy will not die as he saw it. An infinite number of possibilities?

Good point. Bet he's still scared huh?

Can't wait till Cybermen next week, or should I say cyberWOMEN, or perhaps even cyberPERSON. I bet thought that being a Cyberwomen would come handy in arguments huh? :teeth: ::yes:: Or even housework? (Just have to zap away all of that laundry, dishes and even the car if it needs cleaning!! :rotfl: )

Bumping in prep for tonight. :)

I am going to watch this one i've decided. I don't care if it's late, I don't like having to wait to talk about Torchwood/Doctor Who.. :teeth:

I'll have to record it!!! :sad2:

I was awake in the night and all three were being repeated, so I watched the first one again! It was better the second viewing!
