For reasons I don't understand, the Topsy Tail popped into my head last night while I was trying to fall asleep: :confused3

I used mine all the time in middle school (when my hair was long enough...I chopped it off in seventh grade and have never really been able to pull off a successful ponytail since).
C'mon, who else was a disciple of the red plastic loop?

We had a knock-off Topsy Tail my mom bought at K-Mart or something when I was in middle school and we used it all the time too. :)

So you're not alone.

We got the cheapo Bradlees version, but we used it a fair amount. :teeth:

I paid full price for mine from an info-mercial and mine came with a VCR tape with instructions on how to use it!

We have one. I used with DD's hair. Mine was never long enough to look right with the topsy tail.

i still have my topsy tail!!! what stinks about it tho is it kinda parts the hair and makes it look funny if ur pony tail is tight. anyone know what im talkin aboot?
:3dglasses :

I have one around somewhere that I used to always use on my daughter when she was younger.

My grandma got one for my sister when she was in jr. high, but DSis could never get it to look right.

Make a low pony tail, divide it in half above your band and flip your ends through the hole (where you divided the hair). Push the hair through and pull down and you don't even need the topsy tail! You can do a lot of different things if the hair is long enough like braiding the pony tail that you just pushed through the hole and then pinning it up. Looks much fancier than it really is! Comb through that hair in the part, KimStaR! You can keep it tight and make it look better than that *funny* thing you are talking about--I know what you are speaking of!
You can also comb through the sections that you french braid and soften those section lines! looks much better that way and more finished!!

I waited so long for my mom to buy me a Topsy Tail. It was rather painful to pull through when your ponytail was too tight, but I sure thought I looked good.

Hey - they are coming back in style! I swear I read about it in the paper.
I still have two of them.

They are definitely coming back in style. My elementary students are wearing their hair like this. They think they just invented the "look".

I used to use one a lot, and still have it. After reading this post I pulled it out and gave my girls each a topsy tail. They are feeling beautiful. :cool1:

That's what I did (and still do on occasion)!

I had one and used it all the time - I loved it!!!! :thumbsup2

Then, my puppy got a hold of it, and that was the end of the Topsy Tail:sad1:

I should check on Drugstore.com to see if they have one. My DD's hair would look nice if I used it on her :cutie:

I "stole" mine from my cousin - I used to pull my hair through without the topsy tail before I "stole" mine. After that I used it ALL the time and actually still have it. My hair is longer now so it probably would look good. Glad to hear the style is coming back!!
