I have booked us 4 nights at the state park on our way home from the fort. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with the park? We will be at the fort on March 25 to April 4. Then we check into the state park that evening.

Any comments will be appreciated!!

I've only seen photos of it..but it sure looks beautiful.:sunny: Sounds like a really lovely trip. Remember to post a trip report. I'd love to hear all about it. ::yes::

It is a great park. They have a tram to take you to the beach and our beaches are beautiful I must say. Also, if you are interested you are close to a great outlet shopping mall and tons of places to eat.

If you want a place to go at night for fun Baytowne Wharf at Sandestin has everything for adults and kids. It is just down the road from the campground, a couple of miles. There is a publix just down the road if you need groceries.

The campground is very well manicured and quite large. I think you will be very pleased staying there.

Thanks everyone! I am getting excited about the trip. The past few years we have been to Fort Wilderness and we love it! We always stay about 10 days, then have to hurry home... But this year I am self employed, so we can be gone a little longer, we can vacation on the way home too, Topsail seemed like the best option, and I was lucky and got a site:cool1:

We have stayed several times at Camping on the Gulf in Destin, but Wow! The prices were steep this year for April.. So I started looking into other parks in the area.

Another great campgrund is Grayton State Park. If you want cable tv though Topsail is the only state park anywhere in the vicinity that has cable.

You will LOVE it! To me, it's the best RV park...second to the Fort that is! It's huge and the roads are paved and all the camping spots are really nice! Only problem is you must ride the tram or bike or walk to get to the beach area and it can be a long hot walk! LOL!

We stayed there in June 2008 and I know they've made some improvements since then!

There is a nice community called Seaside just up the road that is nice to visit, too. There are some nice places to eat seafood (try Dewey Destin's for some really good crab cakes!) in Destin. You must get key lime pie or breakfast or donuts from The Donut Hole, that is really close to the campground!
