Topolino’s waitlist question

We are staying at Riviera next month but weren’t successful at getting a breakfast reservation. Can someone explain how the waitlist option works? What time does the waitlist open in the morning and how quickly does it fill up?

I was able to get a dinner reservation but only for 4 people and we are a party of 5. We have a toddler so do you think they would let 5 of us sit at a 4 person table with a toddler on our lap? Should I also try to waitlist dinner instead?

I’m feeling kind of frustrated we are staying 5 nights and can’t necessarily eat at Topolinos even once. Thanks!

Holding a child on your lap wont' be relevant, you will be a party of five once you check in with an extra person, regardless of that person's age or need for an actual seat. They will probably let you add the toddler at check-in, but it's not guaranteed.

Since you're staying at the resort I would visit the hostess well ahead of your dinner reservation and see if they can accommodate the 5th person. I'd say your chances are good, but even better if you work it out ahead and not just show up with an extra person at your ADR time.

FWIW we ate breakfast there just over a week ago and there were a decent number of empty tables.

When you wake up, I would go on the MDE app, click "Now" under dining reservations and see what's available. I would say, the earlier you try, the better luck you will have, but just keep trying. Also, sign up for a dining alert program (I like Touring Plans) to see if you can snag a reservation that way. You may see reservations open up a day or two beforehand as people will cancel to avoid no-show fees.

For your dinner reservation, I would recommend checking in through the MDE app (you can do that up to 20 minutes prior to the reservation). When you check in on the app, you have the opportunity to adjust the number of guests in your group.

We added a person in the MDE app upon checking in and had no issues :)

Not sure if they do it for breakfast, but for dinner we were able to be seated in the lounge without a reservation or joining the walk-up list. They have a few (maybe 2?) regular tables in the lounge that should accomodate a toddler.
