My planner told me I need to supply the cake box for my left over wedding cake. I have already bought individual boxes for the left over cake slices, but after I thought about it... does that also mean I need to supply the box for the top tier of my cake that I will take home?

My cake will be coming from the Grand Floridian Bakery so I assumed they would provide a box for this but now I am not sure.

If I have to provide the box...what size would I need?

Thank you in advance if anyone can answer these questions for me!

I didn't buy a box...my WP just gave the top layer in a box to me as we were leaving the wedding.

We had our reception at the GF and they gave us two boxes - one with the cake top and one with the remaining leftover cake.

How absurd! Can't believe they told you that. Like everyone else they boxed our top tier for us.

wow! thank you for your answers! I thought it was absurd too, but I didn't want to sound petty about it.

Well, I have the small boxes/ one big for uncut cake for the left overs, but may be able to return it if they end up providing them.

Dumb question probably, but how did you all get this top tier boxed cake home if you were flying? Did the airlines let you carry on board?

There are no restrictions on carrying the cake aboard an airplane, but it doesn't travel very well without refrigeration. That's why we just ate ours on our honeymoon and had Disney make us a re-creation of the top layer for our anniversary! :thumbsup2
