Top Thrill Dragster....LONG POST!

Cindy - we were in good position in line, but the mechanical issues really extended our wait.

I kept thinking, as time went on, that the moment we left the line, the ride would start working!

I do think the ride was worth the wait! :)

Disneymoon - we'll probably be back in CP next summer for RiddleCon II! Come join us then! You'll find plenty of folks who'll ride with you! :)

As an aside - we rode Wicked Twister too. I had the same launch sensations there, though the rest of that ride is, obviously, a whole different sensation....Wicked Twister is a great ride too!

Is Wicked Twister like Steel Venum, here at Valley Faire? They just added that one here this year. I haven't been there since, but most folks think it is kind of a dud.

I'd love to go up there and ride that. I told my dd she can be my riding partner (she doesn't do elevator rides too well, I can imagine how she'd do on the Dragster:teeth: ). Maybe someday I'll get to ride it.:) Thanks for the report, OK.:)

HOLY COW Bernie...and erin. Thanks for the post cause now i know I'll never do that one!

hope everyone is having a ball.

So can we plan Riddle Con II for WDW?? I would much rather see my buds in our favorite place!

Whoa! I don't know about you guys but my palms started sweating reading OK's account of this skycoaster. Especially, after he mentioned only a LAP BAR! Yee-Ha!!

Hey damo - have you ridden Rock 'n Roller Coaster?

When I ride that, I get a real severe case of butterflies.

I can tell you that Top Thrill is an entirely different experience.

I didn't get the same sensation on Top Thrill - just an amazing sense of acceleration. Very smooth, no discomfort at all.

I can't wait to ride it again!

Yes, I've ridded RNR and Hulk and the launches there don't bother me at all. Even the launch of Dr. Doom, although it is vertical, doesn't really bother me. Glad to hear it is smooth, since I found the launch on Wicked Twister to be a little stressful. Well, maybe after doing Volcano and Hypersonic at King's Dominion next week, I'll be ready.

Sounds like everyone had a lot of fun at CP. I found the lapbars on Magnum to be really painful and they ruined the whole experience. I love hyper coasters, like Superman at Darien Lake and Wild Thing at Valleyfair. I was really disappointed with Magnum. Can't wait to ride Apollo's Chariot at Williamsburg, a B&M hyper!

Hey Bro. Thanks for getting Andrew and Kara in, even though they bailed.

So glad you posted as I missed seeing more of you after the ride adventure.

It looked like fun. I bet you're glad you are one of the few who have been on it. My friend and I were about half an hour away from riding but it broke down. They said it would be two hours at least before it was fixed, and we had to leave before then :(

Nobody believes me when I tell them just how smooth a ride the Top Thrill Dragster is. After the initial 4 seconds of extreme acceleration (not unlike the feeling that I used to get when I had a car with a big V-8 engine), the ride is smooth and quiet. You just glide up and over the hill. DD Sarah and I are both scared of heights, but if the lines for TTD were short, we would both be right there to ride it again. It's over so quickly that there isn't time to be scared.

Great description Bernie.

It's not the height of rides that bothers me, it's the ride down that I hate. That's quite a steep descent!

Bernie - I'm so glad you and Erin were able to ride TTD! :)

Poor Lindsay and Greg (DD and DH) waited in line over 3 hours and it kept breaking down and just as they were getting close to riding... a severe thunderstorm hit and they were told it was shut down for the rest of the day. :(

DD said she spent "QUANTITY" time with her dad! LOL!

Great description of the ride Bernie!

Boy Bernie, I felt like I was right there with you! I don't think I could have waited in line that long. I'm not much for rollercoasters that go that high either. Glad you and your DD had fun!

Wow! Sounds like an awesome ride!!

I'm very glad it was worth the wait! :)

(Maybe next year?;) )

TTD is made by Intamin. Their coasters are usually very smooth.

Intamin coasters at Cedar Point:
Wicked Twister
Milennium Force

Intamin coasters at other places:
Superman: Ride of Steel (Six Flags New England)
Superman: Ultimate Escape (Six Flags Worlds of Adventure)
Vertical Velocity (Six Flags Great America)
Expedition GeoForce (somewhere in Germany)
