Top Three Bottom of the Pit Restraunts

1. ABC Commissary- DH and I both had the grilled chicken sandwiches, and they were literally un-chewable! I was truly holding the sandwich in my mouth, trying to bite it, with NO success!

2. Big River Grill- DH and I used to like this restaurant...until we got the burgers last October. They were thin as a pancake, the bun was totally soaked through with grease, and the "kettle chips were plain 'ol Lays from a bag. The beer was ok, but we were really really sad we wasted time and money there.

3. San Angel Inn- One word, YUCK!!! The food made both of us feel less than great about an hour later. DH and I both love Mexican food, but this place was just disgusting!!

For all those who are rethinking their San Angel Inn reservations......

I loved San Angel, but I have always walked in with the expectation that I'm NOT going to be getting authentic food. It borders taco bell, in my opinion.

On that note, this is my FAVORITE place to be, and I always make it my first reservation of my trip. I absolutely LOVE the ambience of the place, and going thru the mini market they have there.

I'm spanish so I know good and bad spanish food when I taste it. If you're looking for authentic mexican food, you will not find it on Disney property. Go for the experience. There's just nothing like it! :thumbsup2

I really think in most cases, it's more like 'worst dining experiences' and not that the restaurants are completely and totally the worst places ever.

Oh no, ABC Commissary fits that description to a "T." Not only a horrible dining experience, but one of the worst if not worst restaurants I have ever eaten at. After a couple of bites here I saw my life flash before me and saw the light at the end of the tunnel. :rotfl:

Garden Grill: Loud audio track to the Living With the Land Ride, too cramped, characters go by to quickly, disgusting stuffing.

Crystal Palace: Cold, bad service.

Any princess meal: Face characters creep me out.

I would never say never again since we visit a few restaurants on each trip and occasionally get the dining plan. But the two we would not go back to again soon are:

1. San Angel - this used to be a restaurant we visited every other trip. But the last three times have been disappointments (due to food quality).

2. Le Cellier - only tried this once last summer. After a 50 minute wait to be seated, four of us recieved meals that were only ok.

We visit Boma on every trip.

1. ABC Commissary--apparently, from the comments here it is still as bad as it was last time I ate there, which is over three years ago. I will waste my calories somewhere else!

2. Rainforest Cafe--only been to the DTD one but both times it was horrible. Way too expensive for food that was just ok--and the service was atrocious. We were the only group in our waiter's section (it was early in the day) and it still took him 25 minutes just to greet us and take our order (even though he passed obliviously by us at least four times chatting with another server). Don't even ask me about how long it took to get food...or refills...or the check. NEVER again.

3. Kouzzina--Not really a bad place, it just wasn't what I expected. My best friend lives in Tarpon Springs so we have had some awesome authentic Greek food, and Kouzzina wasn't like that at all. Just seemed really expensive for pastitsio and spanakopita, when I can drive to the sponge docks and get it for less than 10 bucks, cooked and served by people who speak Greek :) I think you are paying more for the name on the door and not the food.

But I love some restaurants people here dislike (WCC, Le Cellier, Boma) so I wouldn't make decisions just based on others' opinions...except for ABC Commissary which should be avoided at all costs

To be fair, the only restaurants we went to were very highly rated here and on allears.net, so even if our experience wasn't great, there are probably much worse restaurants.
So from my experience in 2007:

50's prime time cafe - I was very unimpressed. The server didn't do or say anything apart for taking our order, even though I didn't touch my vegetables (which were horrible). I was just writing on a different thread how I don't understand how this can happen, as the servers should know that most people go there because of the 50s experience.
I also didn't like the fried chicken dish. And Dad's sundea was not to my taste.
I did like the fried herb cheese appetizer which was amazing. My husband liked his roast beef dish.

Artist Point - we both had the signature dish and it was probably the most boring food we had at disney. Definitely not worth 2ts points.

Don't forget I said most, not all! :goodvibes I've heard soooo many bad things about ABC from a plethora of sources, so we stay waaay clear of that place!

Your correct, you did say most, not all. :rotfl2: I also wish I had your wisdom and paid attention to the overwhelming response to ABC that you are exercising.

Tony's Town Square-this is Italian food-NOT!

Kona Cafe-once was a must go-not any more-our server had the personality of a robot -hurry up and eat feeling

California Grill-service with the attitude my tip will be calculated in, hence the service was awful

I only have one: Chef Mickey's. The reason Chef Mickey's is so bad is because the food is bland and tasteless. Its a buffet but with bad food & no variety. Chef Mickey's is great for getting good pictures with characters. Its a restaurant catered to todllers and other small frys. If you have a sophisticated food palate, go elsehwere. I remember the macaroni & cheese and the bread rolls were the best things on the menu. The desserts were even bad.

Yeah, I'm another San Angel defender, at least partially. It is too expensive for the quality of food you get, but it's hands down the most enchanting restaurant in all the parks (at least as far as I'm concerned). We're gone our last three vacations.

People, like someone above, say that it's not authentic. I can't say, I've never had authentic, authentic Mexican (like, IN Mexico). But the food we've had certainly didn't taste like any chain restaurant or Tex Mex we've got up here. And it's certainly doesn't taste like Taco Bell. The chicken and steak dishes I've had were not great, not worth the steep price, but neither were they "pop food" in any way. They had complicated, semi-hot flavours. Not sweet, easy-consumption, chain restaurant style flavours at all. I'm anxious to know what's inauthentic about it.

Our top 3 that we will not return to are (we didn't like the food at all)

San Angel Inn
Chef Mickey
Tony's town square

Well, maybe living in a major city with some of the best restaurants in the country has spoiled me -- But I was never impressed with any of the dining in WDW or the Orlando area -- but these are the three bottom, IMO! ;)

Tony's Town Square -- YUCK Just horrible!!!!!!! :scared1:

Mama Melrose -- Boring and bland!

Chefs de France -- I was so excited to eat here and while the atmosphere is super nice and we got to see Remy, the food was tasteless and boring -- I would not go back again!

That being said -- My favorites are Chef Mickey and Margaritaville -- LOVE LOVE LOVE JIMMY!!!!!

Can't say there's anything I've had I'd never go to again... there are a few that I was less than ecstatic about though......

Boatwrights for breakfast is the first to come to mind, me and my wife love going out for breakfast and were somewhat dissapointed in the counter service options (except for the tasty bengiets at POFQ).... we came here looking for a nice homestyle traditional breakfast, all we really got was the same stuff they serve at counter service for twice the price. Mind you this could be more of a general breakfast problem at WDW than against the restaurant itself (I'd at least try dinner or lunch, just not in a rush to do so).

The other two that I wouldn't exactly rush back to was the two Italian eateries we went to. Mama Melroses and Il Mulino (in the Dolphin) both were.... ok in terms of food and service etc but I felt I got better Italian food at East Side Marios for about 1/2 of the price (and actually there's a really nice Italian eatery around here as well for about 2/3 the cost). Just not worth it to spend the extra money and vacation time when we can do better here at home and so many other exciting options were available.

No regrets... just not rushing back

One other general complaint about counter service.... why do all the sandwiches have to be pre-packaged with tomatoes... I love a nice sandwich but I'm allergic to tomatoes (the acidity level in a raw tomato does something to me... the results aren't pretty, cooked they're not too bad). I always feel guilty about making a manager come over to make my sandwich for me though so I end up not getting sandwiches.... just have a small station with the tomatoes etc on it and let people decide what they want.

I tried Le Cellier last time we went and was not impressed. The steak was OK, but the cheese soup everyone raves about was horrible in my opinion. I am one of those people that refuses to sit next to a bathroom at any resturant, so if they had tried to seat me there I would have left.

While I have had average food and service at several WDW restaurants, only one I would never return to, EVER.

ABC Commissary. When I say this place is terrible, I mean it is terrible. I have never in my life anywhere (ok, high school cafeteria 28 years ago was worse) had a worse pile of slop ever plopped on a plate in front of me. The cuban sandwich tasted like it was truly from Cuba, prior to the "cold war". :rotfl:

Possible a second restaurant I would add to the list is Le'Cellier. I may return someday, but it won't be anytime soon. I was way under impressed with this place. With all the rave reviews I was expecting this to be one of the best places I have ever encountered in my life; it was average. We waited 45 minutes past our ADR to be seated, we were stuck next to the restroom entrance (imagine eating the cheese soup and listening to the toilet flush at the same time), and right between the two serving stations(one for payments, the other for silverware). We asked politely to be moved and the manager told us we had to sit there or we could not be seated anywhere else that evening for dinner. Take this place off the DDP as a 1ts restaurant and I'm sure the popularity of this place will go down. Sorry all, I so wanted to love this place.

Don't know if anyone is even still reading this thread, but here are my 3...
1. Garden Grill - Had horribly slow service and the characters pretty much breezed by my son (2 years old) who LOVES to interact with the characters. We didn't like the food either and both my husband and I got sick afterwards. Could have just been coincidental, but still that sticks in your mind!
2. Le Cellier - Didn't feel as if it lived up to the hype. Nothing horrible about it. Just felt that we could get a steak just as good at a restaurant at home. Didn't like the theming and how dark and closed in it felt. Like eating in a cellar (hence the name I guess!).
3. Lotus Blossom Cafe - CMs were rude and not very helpful. Acted like I was an idiot for asking if something on the menu was part of the dining plan. Desserts were disgusting! Small portions compared to other quick service dining restaurants.
