We have quite a diverse group going back to Orlando next month covering 6 decades of age range. Whilst we are happy with our plans for the most we are conscious that our 22 month old gets some of the magic too and that he doesnt just become a push along between the rides etc. So if you could name the top 3 things that are unmissable for a 2yr old, what would they be?

Playhouse Disney at MGM
Winnie the Pooh ride at MK
Fountains at Epcot

The Safari at AK
Winnie the Pooh
Mickey's Toon Time Fair

My DS had just turned 2 last year when we went and loved most of the rides that he could go on. He loved It's Tough to be a Bug but alot of children were being taken out.

When DS was 22 months he "just" made the 36inch height requirement for Goofy's Barnstormer in MK and loved it. Also loved Buzz and Dumbo (of course)

Character interaction
parades
jumping fountains in epcot

Definitely the characters and parades for our DS when he was 2. Most of Fantasyland (Dumbo/Winnie the Pooh/Small World) was also a big hit with him.

Hi

I am also interested in this thread. We are going in October we are travelling with a 5 year old and 23 month old twin boys. I was worried what can the boys do I agree I wouldnt want them to be a push along.

I am a little concerned as to whether the boys will be scared by the characters. Has anyone else experienced this? We have ps some character meals for our daughter and would hate it if the boys were scared and meant Casey missed out. Any tips would be great.

Thanks

Hi Angel659
My DS had just turned 2 and on our first full day we visited Universal where we met Dora and Shrek. DS knew Dora very well but as he was tired would not look at Dora and really wasn't happy when we met Shrek. When we visited Disney he was a different little boy altogether. He was beaming when he met the characters, hugging them, giving them 5 and loved them. Since then he has really got into all of the characters from Disney and Disney/Pixar and will know virtually all of them when we visit in Oct.
The best thing to do is to watch Disney films/channel and go on the web site where you can look at the rides. I also downloaded colouring pages for my DS of Mickey et al so he had an idea of who they were.

Hi

Thats a great idea. I will put on some cartoons and dvds of the characters. I think some of the characters they might be alright especially the princess people they dont look as scary as others.

Thanks for the tip I appreciate it.

Regards
Michelle

Another vote for the characters here. My 2 yr old (well he was 3 last Thursday) & my 4 year old loved all of the characters. Even Indiana Jones.
A ride that surprised us a little that the youngest also liked was 'The pirates of the Caribean'. Its dark in there, but he knew the song so sang along happily. If you can get hold of a WDW ride CD & play it in the car before you go they become accustomed to the environment. On his second visit we even got him on 'The Haunted Mansion'. The other ride he likes is Figment at Epcot. I think its because he does a smelly trump(sorry for giving it away) more than the ride itself.
Oh god, I have bread toilet jokes into my childrens sense of humour!

Our 3 would be

fountains at Epcot
Character Interaction especially Princesses at Hall of Fame, ToonTown Fair
Breakfast with Pooh and co at Crystal Palace

and one for luck..

Haircut at Harmony Barbers (MK) they do a great first cut package and add sprinkles and gel if you want them.

DD was 2 and generally loved the characters - What we did to prepare her was drag out old photos of us on previous trips so she could see how big they were - we took here lead from her - she started by touching a paw and ended by running arms open up to the charaters and giving them a hug.

Thanks for the ideas. We're pretty sure mini DS will be ok with all the characters as we were in DLP in March and he was fine. We pretty much know the rides anyway but in particular the Epcot fountains didnt figure. The barbers idea also sounds good as we have never had his hair cut since he was born (very slow growing) and its a mass of blonde curls at the moment. I think DW would kill me if I suggested that idea!
