Top Secret Pixie Dust! A Surprise 13th Birthday PTR! NEW! TRIP REPORT LINK PAGE 220!

Up north we still have another month of school. I'm officially done on the 30th of June. Unofficially all our brains are fried already.

I know that feeling -- our brains started sizzling about the time that we finished standardized testing -- five weeks before the end of school.

Your big pinata pics got me thinking it would be neat if you could put chelsea's card inside a big Coke bottle. You could put some sand inside the bottle to signify the beach too.

Cute! That's a really great idea!

Jackie, I have no clue what to write in the card, but I think others gave you some cute things to say. If I think of something, I will let you know. Your idea is really cute.

Thanks, Lynn! I have been having fun with it!

Summer vacation has to be planned,
this year a place with waves and sand,
a time to shop, rest and sightsee,
How I do wish to be with thee,

but I need to stay where I am,
out front looking glam,
Holding my Coke,
Saying hi to all the folk,
and generally hanging around,
since I am stuck to the ground,

I am the queen of corny :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: Lame- O but it rhymes

I love it!!!

Love it Poolrat!

Me too! ::yes::

So, there may be some changes on the horizon...some things just can't seem to be stifled. :rolleyes1 I'll try not to keep everyone in suspense too long. ;)

:rolleyes1

Do we need to start coming up with things that rhyme with kidney, and frisbee and Sydney???????? :rotfl:

Please don't keep us in suspense too long :confused3

The mind works in mysterious ways. For several weeks now as the weather became increasingly warmer here, I kept thinking about how it felt like we should be headed to Disney World soon. I have always equated summer with trips to the parks, and I felt empty with no trip on the horizon. I tried really hard to squelch it. I really did.

One night this week Charles and I were sitting outside enjoying the twilight and watching the dogs play, and I began talking.

Me: I think I would be okay if the Main Street Electrical Parade wasn’t going to be at Disney this summer.
Charles: I could rig up a parade for you here in the backyard. Get Connor to pull a wagon and string some lights around it. The dogs could even be a part of it.
Me: You would have to string them with lights, too.

I tried to ignore the call of the Main Street Electrical Parade, but every time I went to a Disney website there was more and more news about its debut. I even learned that the music was called Baroque Hoedown. In the back of my mind, that music seemed to be accompanying all I did.

And then there was the price of the Hilton Head trip.

For the one-bedroom villa for four nights, we were looking at spending about $1800. That was just for the room for four nights.

For less than that, we could stay at Caribbean Beach and have our park tickets for five nights. An extra night and theme parks to amuse ourselves seemed like the better bargain.

I brought this up to Charles and asked for his opinion. He did his usual response of, “I’ll do whatever you want.”

Grrrr.

I told him I really needed a more definitive answer from him.

His more definitive response?

“I just don’t know how warped and scarred you will be if you don’t go to Disney World this summer.”

Well, there is that to consider.

Yesterday on our way to Chelsea and Connor’s eye appointments (Connor needed a new prescription, and it has become increasingly apparent that Chelsea needs glasses), I broached the subject.

Me: I have to confess that I am kind of bummed about missing the Main Street Electrical Parade this summer. This is the parade that I grew up watching. It is probably my favorite memory of my childhood at the parks.
Connor: Ah, Mom, if you had told us before, we would have wanted to go to Disney. Is it too late to change?
Chelsea: No, it’s not too late to change. That’s why she is bringing it up. (Shrewd child.)
Connor: Then, let’s change and go to Disney.
Chelsea: Mom, I told you I would be fine going to Disney. I am going to have fun no matter where we are. In fact, I will strike a deal with you. (I must confess that my heart always seizes with fear when one of my family members wants to “strike a deal.”) I will go to Disney if I can pick out a t-shirt and get Silly Bandz.
Me: Mmmm.

(Inside I was happy dancing! Really, for the promise of a t-shirt and some rubber bracelets, I could have my Disney trip?)

Now, I have to tell you that Chelsea has been talking about wanting one of those air-brushed t-shirts when we went to Hilton Head. I hope I don’t step on any toes, but those shirts scream tacky vacation souvenir to me every time I see one! Thank goodness they don’t have those at Disney!

I wasn’t entirely convinced yet that I should change things around. Almost, but not quite.

So, the magic of Disney pushed me a little.

Last night, we had dinner at my sister-in-law’s and the Kona Ice Cream truck came down the street. Well, the Kona Ice Cream truck inspires wild screaming and excitement from my two children and my SIL’s two children. So, we all went outside to buy snow cones. It was playing a calypso version of “Under the Sea,” but I didn’t mention it. It was my husband who mentioned it.

“Hey, isn’t that “Under the Sea” from The Little Mermaid?”

Disney brainwashing works in mysterious ways.

Charles was very proud of himself and remarked, “That won me some points, didn’t it?” (At our house, things run on a point system :lmao:.)

Although perhaps I was grasping at straws, that decided it for me.

Disney World it is!

I called and made the changes this morning. Luckily, I never canceled any of our ADRs, so we still have those. However, apparently, I really want to eat at Primetime Café because over the last four months I have made four different reservations for it and kept forgetting I had made those reservations. I canceled a couple of those this morning. Oh, and I dropped the Dining Plan off our reservation -- I think I can save money by not having that. We will be able to eat what we want and not have to worry about wasting credits.

Now, I am going to use Bo’s picture and all the great poem ideas to reveal our Caribbean Beach stay!

Fifty Days Until Disney World!

Oh my.... what news Jackie! I am sure you are super excited. So is this it... will you keep your Disney trip or waffle between the two?

Nope, no more waffling. :goodvibes I canceled the Hilton Head ressie, and our final payment is due for the Disney trip on Thursday.

Yes, I kept the Primetime ressies, but we didn't need four of them!

I will gladly pick you up some Silly Bandz -- we arrive July 18 -- will that be too late for Andrew's birthday? It could always be a belated birthday gift. ::yes::

I guess it was only a matter of time, wasn't it? ;)

I'm a little bummed about the parade... do you know when it's supposed to leave WDW? My trip is at the end of September so I'm guessing it will be gone... but I wonder what will replace it? :confused3

It did seem inevitable. ;)

The Disney Website says August 14, but Heidi thinks it will stay longer since it probably cost a lot of time and money to ship it out to Orlando.

Raise your hand if you're surprised. (no one raises hands) :lmao::lmao:

Those darn silly bands. My girls got a pack from my girlfriend a month ago. No real interest, no real demand here. I even bought some for my neighbor earlier this week when I was at Walgreens because her kids love them.

But last night we were at Hannah's end of the year party and the mom had ones for them all (including Em who got to go too). Now my girls care.... and I hear now they have been at her school a few weeks too.

Although the Disney ones are awfully cute... I would love to score some sets!

Summer vacation has to be planned,
a new place with shopping and sand,
and lots of new things to see,
but how I do wish to be with thee,

the thought of not seeing you makes me blue
I need to make you want me too
I offer a new parade,fireworks and a delicious meal
but the ice cream truck sealed the deal

Now you get to come where I am,
To see me out front looking glam,
a new place to stay
where on the beach you can play
the coast will be in reach
at the Carribean Beach

If you aren't in time for Andrew's birthday I can get them. Let me know, we leave real soon!

So excited for you and your Disney decision! I checked on HHI prices, and wow they were steep! I could plan a whole weeks stay at disney plus our airfare for how much that villa would have cost! Have a blast! :goodvibes

YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYA!!

I am so happy that you are going to Disney. I mean, I've come to enjoy your summer trips and a summer without a CP trip report? I just can't handle that!!
