Top Secret Pixie Dust! A Surprise 13th Birthday PTR! NEW! TRIP REPORT LINK PAGE 220!

Happy Easter Jackie!! SO glad your Spring Break has finally arrived, I wish I had another week but then I keep telling myself only 2 more months and I'm done with school! Gorilla egg hunts sound awesome, can't wait to see the pics!

Yes, we are down to six weeks of school!!! Woo hoo!

Hopefully I will get the update posted this morning!

Ahhhh, to have Spring Break stretching ahead..... bliss!
Jello Easter Eggs and Gorillas sounds like so much fun!

Busy day planned here, going to take the big dog to deliver an Easter Basket to my mom first thing though...

It is bliss -- of course, after a few days, we may be driving each other nuts!

Did Hunny Pot enjoy delivering goodies?

just saw your post about the changes. as disappointed as i know you are about not going to disney this summer, i'm sure you will still have a great time. i love disney SO MUCH, but i do have to remind myself that there are other places to go on vacation. you will be back one day. and it's so nice that you will still have subtle disney touches while you're there. :)

This is true -- I keep telling myself Disney World is not going anywhere in 2011. I think a Hilton Head vacation will be very nice and not nearly as hectic or crowded as a Disney trip.

i wish i would have known about the gorilla egg-hunting yesterday! that sounds like a hoot. we have a friend from out of town here and we drove up to helen yesterday since it was so pretty out. but i think i would've much rather seen gorillas hunting for jello eggs!

It was so funny! I am posting an update about it soon. You should think about doing it next year -- apparently they do it every year, but this is the first year I knew anything about it.

Hope you have a Happy Easter CP and Family!! :flower3:

We did! Too much chocolate and candy, but it's hard to resist those Cadbury Cream Eggs.

Happy Easter! :goodvibes

Happy Easter to you, too!

Happy Easter Jackie!

Happy Easter, Michelle!

Hope you had a great Easter Jackie. Anxious to see your pics of the Gorillas. Sound like fun!!

We did, Doreen! Thanks! Pics coming soon!

Have a GREAT SPRING BREAK.

Thank you! I hope this gorgeous weather we are having lasts all week!

Enjoy your spring break :goodvibes

Thanks, Jen! As soon as I get this house cleaned, I can play the rest of the week.

Saturday afternoon Michelle (my SIL), Will, (my nephew), Kathryn (my niece), Chelsea, Connor, and I headed to Zoo Atlanta. Our zoo has two big draws -- the gorillas and the giant pandas. The last time we went was in 2005, so we were very excited to be headed back.

Michelle and I had been very indecisive about going. We just couldn’t decide if we wanted to make the drive, pay the prices, etc., but when Saturday turned into a gorgeous day, we decided to head down there. Will was helping with his church’s egg hunt in the morning, so we got going about 12:30. Our plan was to get to the zoo in time for the 2:00 Gorilla Egg Hunt.

Gorilla Egg Hunt? Yes, at Zoo Atlanta, the gorillas get to hunt for Jello eggs the Saturday before Easter. This was something we had to see for ourselves, and Connor was beside himself with anticipation.

We arrived at the Zoo about 1:15, but it took us a good twenty minutes to find a parking spot. Apparently, we were not the only ones who wanted to see the gorillas find Easter eggs. As soon as we were through the ticket line, we booked it over to the gorilla yards. Unfortunately, we did not get a prime spot for the 2:00 egg hunt and missed the initial searching, but we were able to see some of the fun.

This guy was just enjoying the sun.

The little gorillas enjoyed wrestling with the bigger one.

This gorilla cracked us up. When he was done searching for eggs, he buried himself in hay and just sat there.

Then, we headed over to the other gorilla yard where the keeper was setting up for the second egg hunt. This time we staked out a much better spot.

Waiting for the egg hunt to begin!

When it was 2:30, the gorillas were released -- there were three in this yard -- and they booked it down to find their eggs. It was the funniest thing ever! They knew exactly what they were doing, but sometimes they didn’t want the other two to know they had spotted an egg. They would walk slowly by, look all around very sneakily, and then grab the egg and shove it in their mouth.

There were also some larger paper mache-type eggs that the gorillas could rip apart with apple slices inside.

The aftermath of all that fun.

I think I know exactly how this gorilla felt after eating too many Cadbury Crème Eggs yesterday.

Chelsea (and everyone else) really enjoyed watching the gorillas have some Easter fun.

UP NEXT: We visit all the other animals at the zoo!

LOVE the gorilla pics! thanks for sharing. i'm gonna put this on my calendar next year to remind myself to check into going. i've never even been to zoo atlanta so we can make a day of it! :thumbsup2

That is the cutest thing ever!! I would have loved to see the gorillas hunt for eggs. :goodvibes We have a membership to our zoo (it was only $45 for the entire family for the year!!) and we love to go hang out for an hour or so (it's not all that big).

Enjoy your spring break! :goodvibes

Okay, now that sounds so fun! I laughed looking at the pics and so did Landon! Lol. Jackie, Chelsea is really looking like a teenager these days. Wow! She's very pretty! ;) I'm just trying to watch and learn from you so I will know what to do with Madi. She didn't go through the terrible two's but is now going through the terrible three's. Oh my!!! :scared1:

I wonder who discovered that gorillas like Jello? It seems like such an odd thing :confused3 Looks like fun!

I love the idea of a Gorilla egg hunt! I know our zoo freezes fruit in huge blocks of ice in the summer for a cool treat, but I dont think they do an egg hunt. something to look into!

The pictures of the Gorilla hunt were fun. It might be something DH and I can do next year. We usually visit the zoo for a day once a year. This might be a fun day to try next year.

I love the gorilla photos. What a fun event at Zoo Atlanta. I definitely need to visit Atlanta and the zoo :) I really love the photo of the after photo of the gorilla resting. That's how I felt after Easter dinner :lmao:

That gorilla egg hunt looked like so much fun! I wonder who came up with that idea - brilliant!

That looks like alot of fun. I was feeling alot like that gorilla at the end of day yesterday too. Ate way too much!

I was thinking of you this weekend. I was at the fabric store looking through pattern books, and there was a girl in one of them who looked exactly like Chelsea. Very freaky! She has a twin out there.

That is too funny that they do a gorilla egg hunt. I love how sneaky they are. They always look funny to me with such short legs and long arms.

Wow, what a cool way to start off your spring break!:thumbsup2

I wish the Bronx Zoo did something like that because I'd totally be there!

Sounded like a great Easter Day outing what fun! Nathan (Michael) would have gotten the biggest kick out of the Gorilla Egg hunt...I will have to show him your pic's

The gorilla Easter egg hunt looks like so much fun! I love that they would be sneaky when they'd find one. :rotfl:
