to Chelsea and her cool new glasses!
I understand her resistance. I just got my first pair of glasses a few years ago and I hated them!
She looks fabulous and is all smiles!
I don't think I will be telling Chelsea that you hated your glasses, Mary Ellen!

she looks adorable! It's a hard transition but I bet she will be motivated to move to contacts and be ready for them in a year, I got them in high school as well.
I think she is going to want to since getting her learner's permit is only two years away, and she knows we will not be letting her behind the wheel of the car without glasses or contacts.

My first pair of online rx sunglasses arrived yesterday, 2 more are on their way. While they aren't "designer" they are cute, cheap and the rx and lens quality is surprisingly good for the price! Very pleased with them. Mine were "expensive" at $49 including shipping due to the progressives. A funky frame and a departure for me but for the price, kind of fun to have. You might want to consider it for Disney for her as a birthday surprise or something! When the other ones arrive I will post links and a little review on my PTR.
I like that idea. I need to get the website from you at some point. Are progressive lenses the ones that change according to the amount of light?
super cute glasses!!! A few years ago we went through the whole "wow, I never knew houses were back there!!" along the same road we had driven weekly for years![]()
Yep, that was pretty much the conversation on the way home -- that and a lot of billboard and sign reading.

Chelsea looks great in her glasses. I started wearing glasses in the 7th grade, then contacts in the 11th.
Thanks! I really love those frames!
Chelsea looks great in her glasses. Yes I loved Prince of Persia. I love a great action movie with just a touch of romance. I actually have seen it twice, the first time I went with a girl friend and then the second time I dragged my dh along and he liked it too.
Thanks! Oh, that is exactly the kind of movie I like!!!
Chelsea's glasses look great! She looks so grown up! I was able to get contacts when I went into high school. I took care of them because I preferred them to glasses...still do!![]()
Thank you! Chelsea is pretty good about taking care of things, and I noticed she has been very careful to follow the rules for her new glasses -- not laying them down on the lenses, putting them back in the case when she's not wearing them, etc.
I used to ask Santa for glasses every year (and crutches), but my Christmas wish never came true. I even used to try to fail my eye exam in hopes of getting a pair (I think my mom would secretly tip the doctor off).![]()
Well, here I am 43 years old and still waiting for my glasses.Do tell Chelsea that I'm jealous of hers...they're so stylish.
PS. I never got my crutches, either!![]()

I will admit that I was trying on all the frames, too, while we were waiting.

ROFL....In elementary school, I wanted braces and glasses in the worst way! Then I got glasses in 8th grade and eventually, contacts so I could play soccer and see the ball at the same time. Now I just wish I could accidentally fall asleep on the couch for a delightful nap without waking up to contacts plastered to my eyes because they're bone dry. Or wear my glasses to dinner without losing all depth perception while trying to get the fork IN my mouth as my food comes in and out of focus.
Apparently, defective body parts aren't all they're cracked up to be!!![]()

I love the glasses! Cute choice Chelsea.I wonder why she caved and admitted she needed them?
Thanks! I am not sure what changed her mind -- it might have been my comment of, "You will never get your driver's license until you admit you need to have your eyes checked," or it might have been something else since it still took two months after that for her to say she wanted to go have her eyes checked. There is no telling with how a 12-year-old's mind works.

She picked out a wonderful pair- they are very cute on her! One of my twins is far sighted and wears glasses; the other was devasated that she didn't need them. (The doctor told my mom (I overhead) in fifth grade that I didn't really need glasses, but he could give them to me for confidence.)
So I thought I saw just fine. Then I got glasses at 16/17; On the way home I said to my boyfriend (husband now) can you see that? Can you see that? I was shocked by what everyone else had been able to see!
Thanks! It's so funny to me that some kids want glasses and others that need them don't want them (Chelsea).
