Top Secret Pixie Dust! A Surprise 13th Birthday PTR! NEW! TRIP REPORT LINK PAGE 220!

super cute glasses!!! A few years ago we went through the whole "wow, I never knew houses were back there!!" along the same road we had driven weekly for years:lmao:

Chelsea looks great in her glasses. Yes I loved Prince of Persia. I love a great action movie with just a touch of romance. I actually have seen it twice, the first time I went with a girl friend and then the second time I dragged my dh along and he liked it too.

Chelsea's glasses look great! She looks so grown up! I was able to get contacts when I went into high school. I took care of them because I preferred them to glasses...still do! :)

I used to ask Santa for glasses every year (and crutches), but my Christmas wish never came true. I even used to try to fail my eye exam in hopes of getting a pair (I think my mom would secretly tip the doctor off).

Well, here I am 43 years old and still waiting for my glasses. :rolleyes1 Do tell Chelsea that I'm jealous of hers...they're so stylish.

PS. I never got my crutches, either! :headache:

ROFL....In elementary school, I wanted braces and glasses in the worst way! Then I got glasses in 8th grade and eventually, contacts so I could play soccer and see the ball at the same time. Now I just wish I could accidentally fall asleep on the couch for a delightful nap without waking up to contacts plastered to my eyes because they're bone dry. Or wear my glasses to dinner without losing all depth perception while trying to get the fork IN my mouth as my food comes in and out of focus. :sad2:

Apparently, defective body parts aren't all they're cracked up to be!! :lmao:

She picked out a wonderful pair- they are very cute on her! One of my twins is far sighted and wears glasses; the other was devasated that she didn't need them. (The doctor told my mom (I overhead) in fifth grade that I didn't really need glasses, but he could give them to me for confidence.)
So I thought I saw just fine. Then I got glasses at 16/17; On the way home I said to my boyfriend (husband now) can you see that? Can you see that? I was shocked by what everyone else had been able to see!

You know you can get the cute faux ones now, right? :upsidedow

This will probably make you run in fear, but I wore glasses 3rd grade to 8th grade, and got contacts in 9th. I love contacts, and it's nice to have peripheral vision when you drive.
I always just used old lady clip-ons on my glasses.
Funny story-so on my first two trips to WDW, I would take off my glasses before going on Splash. It was really exciting when I went with contacts and could see things.

Chelsea looks great in her new glasses!! My DD has had them since she was 3 so they are old hat to her but this year she is excited to get new frames. At almost 8 she's getting into "fashion"!:cutie:

I remember when my DH (DBF at the time) got his glasses. We were driving home and he kept saying "oh, is that what that looks like" and "Has that sign always been there?" I felt like this :scared1: that I'd been driving with him all this time!!

Chelsea looks so pretty in her glasses. What a mature young lady to decide that she needs them and to finally get them!

Chelsea looks super cute in her glasses. They are much cuter than my first pair. They were a magenta pink color combine those with a perm and well pictures of me from 3rd to 6th grade are hard to come by!

LOL!! Oh my gosh, I was just thinking of my first pair! They were a pale baby pink that you could see through on the sides and the frame. They were huge!! I think I have only a few pictures of me wearing them. That was in 6th grade, then when I hit 8th.....contacts!! Thank goodness for contacts! Then, oh my goodness, thank the Lord for lasik surgery! :)

Chelsea does look super cute in the glasses!!!

She looks BEAUTIFUL!!!! I love those glasses so much!!! Definitely make her earn her contacts someway....she will appreciate them so much more and hopefully take care of them!!!

:rotfl::rotfl:Love that Charles broke into song! LOVE the new glasses Chelsea picked out! They're so flattering on her and now she can SEE, yayyyy! :thumbsup2

LOVE Chelsea's new glasses!! She looks so grown-up in them!! And the Whole New World reference is GREAT!!! :goodvibes I remember getting glasses in middle school and telling my parents that I could see the leaves on the trees! What a difference glasses made!!

awww she looks really cute with those glasses..she's going to be happy she checked them now than in the future when they're worse! Good job! LOL!

I'm sure this has been said a lot already...but Chelsea looks so grown up and so pretty with her glasses! I love those frames! I can get a new pair this coming winter and it's time to upgrade to something new LOL!!! I'll have to ask Chelsea her advice, she picked a great pair!!

I hope she wears them all year, sounds like a great incentive to me!

I know Chelsea probably doesn't want to hear this, but I think she looks beautiful!

I wear glasses (I have since I was four), and when I got into high school, my mom allowed me to get contact lenses. She wanted me to be responsible enough to care for them properly, and boy was she right.

Sounds like a good incentive to me, and I'm glad that she can see better! :goodvibes

Thanks, TK! I think she looks great in them, too. I know Chelsea really wants contacts, but I want to make sure she is responsible enough to take care of them.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Chelsea looks very cute with her new glasses!

Wasn't Charles funny breaking into song?

Thanks, Jill! I think so, too!

Awww, her glasses are so cute!! She looks adorable.

I tried contacts my senior year but I HATED them, they felt awful in my eyes. I'm a glasses girl for sure. :3dglasses

Thanks, LL! My dad is the only one on either side of the family that wears contacts on a regular basis. Charles only wears them when he is going swimming or playing soccer, and even now, as he has gotten older, he doesn't always want to wear them for those things. It will be interesting to see if Chelsea likes contacts as much as she thinks she will.

Chelsea looks super cute in her glasses. They are much cuter than my first pair. They were a magenta pink color combine those with a perm and well pictures of me from 3rd to 6th grade are hard to come by!

:rotfl: I bet those magenta pink glasses were all the rage back in the day, though! ;)

I can well remember that 'I can see!' feeling when I first got glasses.

She looks great! I'm sure she'll do fine with them, and they have made such strides with contacts now that when she gets to those, she should have no trouble. Jill wears the ones that you can keep in for a certain amount of time and then throw out, so you pretty much just put them in and forget them.

Now she'll be able to see the shows and all of the Disney details on your upcoming trip much better and appreciate them even more. :goodvibes

Thanks, MeMom! They have made great strides with contacts. I remember when my dad first started wearing them, and they were such a new thing.

Chelsea is going to love being able to see everything at Disney so much clearer! :thumbsup2

Chelsea's glasses are very cute! I am sure it was a big difference for her.

Erika

Thanks! It is a huge difference for Chelsea -- she was in awe at how far away she could see once she put them on!

You were beautiful! Your perm was beautiful, too.

You could have fit right into the Full House family - you were so stylin'!
When I see old Full House episodes and see the colorful clothes the girls wore and the hairstyles, I think of you back then. Black, hot pink, lime green, electric lemon yellow, lots of big bows... :cool1:

:lmao: We really had a unique sense of style back then! All those bright colors and layers! Charles was complaining the other day about how skimpy all of Chelsea's clothes were and I had to remind him that it wasn't like when we were her age and everyone wore six layers of different colors! :lmao:

Still a beaut! I remember the contact bribe too, and knowing that wearing the glasses did truly change what I could see!

:rotfl: And here I thought my contact lenses bribe was something new and different. Now, I find out that moms have been using it for years!

The glasses are great; I love them!

And, "A Whole New World" is exactly what I start singing every time I leave the eye doctor with a new prescription for contacts on and I realize how much I needed new contacts! Literally, I've been working that song for 14 years! My parents would always just roll their eyes at me. So not supportive! :sad2: :)

:lmao: Too funny about the song! I think Chelsea rolled her eyes at us, too! ;)

I amazed too when my son got glasses he was the same way w/ how much better he could see....great new frames :thumbsup2

Thanks, Julie! I know Chelsea is happy that she can see distances now!

I love her glasses. Very sharp on her. :) I still remember the first pair I got, and that Wow! I Can See! feeling.

Thanks, Crissy! I just love those frames she picked out!

Jackie can you spring for a pair of Rx sunglasses for her as well? I got a pair when I was 15 just before I went to Disneyland.....I was so glad I had them there!

Do you think the frames were BIG enough???? LOL

You know -- big frames are back in again, Heidi! :lmao:

I was thinking about doing that for her birthday -- especially since Cynthia found a place online that does the glasses -- I am waiting to hear her final verdict!

WOW! I am getting all caught up since I have not been in the middle of moving to Colorado! I have missed a lot including the fact that you are back to going to Disney!:banana::banana: YAY I am so happy for you and you get to see the Main Street Electrical Parade! That too was my favorite as a child and I love the music to it! I can't wait to hear all about the trip.

Also Chelsea looks very pretty in her glasses! I remember when I first got my glasses although they have better choices now than back in the late 80's early 90's. LOL.

Hi! Are you all moved now? We (I) are very excited about heading back to Disney for the parade, and Chelsea had lots of fun picking out her glasses. She must have tried on every pair in the store!

She looks terrific! :lmao: to Charles bursting out in Disney song. He really is becoming quite the fan... good work!! :)

Charles kills me -- I don't know if he has even ever watched all of Aladdin, but I guess living in this house, it's hard not to learn all the songs from the various movies. ;)

great glasses! she looks super cute and classy. :thumbsup2

Thanks! The first thing Chelsea did when she put them on was fix her hair.

i have somehow managed to avoid the need for glasses, too, as has ray. i'm sure it's coming for both of us, though. i have a feeling my hearing will go first, though. i listen for a living and i'm sure i'm wearing out my eardrums!

:rotfl: I think my hearing will be the first to go, too. Charles already says I am going deaf -- probably from the noise levels in the school cafeteria. ;)

Chelsea looks great in her new glasses! I second what Heidi said about the r/x sunglasses. So worth it and for a teenage girl, much nicer than the clip-ons!

Thanks! Yes, I don't see Chelsea standing for the clip-on sunglasses. :sad2:

Cute glasses! I got my first pair of glasses when I was in 3rd grade. Started out as only reading glasses, but my 4th grade, I needed them full-time. Luckily, my parents let me get contacts in 6th grade. :goodvibes

Thanks! Lots of my students are already wearing contacts, but I wanted Chelsea to start out with glasses first and see how those went.

Cool glasses for Chelsea!
LOL at singing A Whole New World! I know how that feels. I've been in glasses since I was a kid and there are some LOVELY pictures of me around 7th grade with big huge frames and feathered hair!
Chelsea's are WAY better!
I started with contacts in high school and haven't gone back to glasses since. Unless I have an eye infection or I'm really tired, I never wear my glasses. I especially hate driving in them because I'm so nearsighted that I can't see out of the corners of my eyes (you know looking around the frames) Drives me nuts!

Huge frames and feathered hair were so the style, though! ;)

I think Chelsea is going to want contacts for that very reason. She is pretty near-sighted.

Have to tell you Jackie - my nephew and wife were over last night and we were talking Disney. He went a lot as a kid (He's 34). I told him about how they're bringing back MSEP and he was SO excited - telling us how great it was! So now I'm really excited to see it too!

You will love it!!! It's such a fun parade. I have been reading the reviews of it around the DIS, and everyone says that people let out this huge roar of excitement every time the music starts. It's funny to me because I never realized that so many people love the parade as much as I do.

Chelsea is too cute in her glasses. She is really growing up!! :)

Thanks! Chelsea is growing up way too fast. One of my friends on FB even asked who the other woman was in my profile pic. He couldn't believe it was Chelsea -- who he hasn't seen in about five years since he moved to Texas.

:thumbsup2 A big thumbs-up to Chelsea---She looks beautiful in her new glasses.

Rachel got glasses right before 6th grade, and she has admited since then, that she was amazed by how things looked after she got them. I guess you and Charles had it right with your song choice!

We did agree to let her get contacts the next summer, and she's done great with them!

Thanks, Michelle! Chelsea didn't wear them too much yesterday, but since we were just hanging around the house, I didn't press the issue. She did put them on to watch television last night without us saying anything, so that was pretty good, I thought.
